How the Claim Report works

The Bordeaux-Red Baron
[This is also posted in my before thread about claim reports; but thought, it should be read by all]

Now I have seen, how it the Claim Reports work.
Our flight of 4 Albatros D II came across 2 Bristol Scout deep below, over the mud. I attacked them, but didn't order my wings to do so. They were all around us, while I killed the Scout (So they were witnesses!)
When I had just finished him off, we were attacked by 6 Nieuport 17 from high above.
Soon, my wings were out of sight, while I was in a fierce dogfight.
Within 7 minutes, I managed to damage 4 Nieuport 17 so much, that they crashed. Each time they were shown as destroyed by me. But no wings around - all the time.
I got a claim form and filled it all in. The menue at the end asked, if I wanted to state it this way - it was erreneus and would get rejected.
Now, I wiped out the last claim and tried it again. No way!
The claim would be rejected, until I had only the first kill left in - the one, that my wings had witnessed!
Now, the report was accepted!
I think, this proofs, how it works: you must have witnesses (and in our game case: wingmen, as ground troops would make it too difficult).

Every other claim would get rejected.
I'm happy, that it's no mistake in the game - it's logical and totally acceptable.

I am zee Graf von und zu Griffentaffel! I do not lie! Ven I zay I haf zhot down ein Englander, dat ist mein vord ov honor, az ein gentleherr und az ein noble! Vat need I of vitness? Schword? My head hurts.

Mein auch.

I don't blame you. Deutschlish is tough on the brain... not to mention the throat and the ears. :faint:

I blame JFK... "Ich bin ein bin-liner". Honestly, tsk!

Schword? My head hurts.

Goot! Pistolen it ist, zhen. I von der Gold Cup der Armee in 1914. Might I inkvire who ist your zecond? Mein zecond zhall call upon him zhortly. Pistolen vor two, kaffe vor vun, eh? Muhahahahaha. Until zhen, aufweidersehen! (clicks heels/bows simulatneously, and struts off fiendishly twirling his moustache).

...zome lumpenproletariat clerk

Hahahahahaaa!!! You are probabliy the best substitute for OvS, now that he's on holidays (or I hope he is) ! Really good, Bullet! :applause:

PS: do you have German ancestors, or were do you know this word from?

Perhaps there is a science to it. But I have decided to prefer art.

Technically I shot down three today; being the last to get a hit in. However, Only one was intentional. The others were in trying to soften up matters for Sgt Griffith. Unfortunately, Griffith can't get the idea of turning faster than a triplane so I ended up having the last shot.

I reported them as Griffith's but they are included on my claims tally. I hope he gets them, and learns to turn.

Hey, Maeran - can I fill in claims for my wingmen too, you say?

PS: if we Germans really spoke, as you Hollywood Barons, we would break our voices, get dizzy and headache (Lol!!!)

Goot! Pistolen it ist, zhen.
Aber nein mein gute Herr. Wir sind piloten, nicht wahr? Albatri at dawn it ist. No wun ist allowed ze Nieuport, ein very bad und evil plane that only ze British pigdogs und ze frogeaters fly.

Now my head hurts even more.

Really good, Bullet! :applause:

Imitation is the sincerest form or flattery, or so I've heard. You're the master of the B-movie Deutschlish. I know NUTTINK! :)

PS: do you have German ancestors, or were do you know this word from?

I got the word from Marx, maybe Engels; I forget which. It was all part of the Cold War "know your enemy" stuff. But "lumpenproletariat" seemed to fit the social culture of the time, so I used it as about the worst insult a WW1 German nobleman could come up with given the affront he'd suffered. It was beneath his dignity (and beyond my limited command of German), plus outside the TOS of this forum, actuallly to say the real profanities he no doubt thought about :).

I do have German ancestors, though. I had relatives on both sides of most WW1 battles on the Western Front and in the North Sea, well before the US got into it.

Hihi, I just love Bullets Genglish!! Oh Boy, would you please teach me some lessons?:friday:

Marvelous!

Hi, GEIER No, if we talk serious for a moment, the Nieuport was in fact a very agile, light plane, that could outmanoeuver the German Albatros, if flown by a good pilot. Only as a gun platform, it was too lightweight and could only carry one gun. So, when I meet them, I hit all of them with a good burst first. That makes them less manoeuverable and I can get at them.
They are good FLYING planes - ours are dangerous FIGHTING planes. No reason, to put them down, I'd say.

Hey, BULLETHEAD Seems, if you go back in history far enough, we're all relatives in the end. For your Deunglish I'd say: Stell Dein Licht nicht unter den Scheffel - can you read what that would be in English (it's one of those sayings, which are the same in English and in German).

Sätt inte ditt ljus under skäppan.

Yes, it's the same in most Western languages since it's from the Bible. Above is the saying in Swedish.

Olham: You are right of course. I've made it my mission to hunt down and destroy all Nieuports! No wonder Ball stuck to that plane for as long as he did. I still find the inability of the Alb D III AI to be constantly flown into the ground (not shot!) by them frustrating in the sense that I want my squaddies to live.

GEIER, I don't know if it REALLY helps, but seems to work: I press "R" for Return very often, when I'm not just in a fight. Then they seem to stick with me better.
After one fight, I found the last other surviving wingman, flying low over a forest - looked as if he was almost shot up.
But I didn't give him up and pressed "R" several times. And, as if he had found new orientation, he came up to me, and we made it to the field together!

Also, as you're Swedish, you may try this: put your Regional Language Settings on "English (USA)" (all in that menue).
That helped in many cases, that the program could work right with Campaign dates, and measures (important for Altitude!), as they are written different in English. Worth a try.

PS: but after playing, remeber to put them back - otherwise you may get problems with your other programs.

Yahwoel, aber...

Naya, Sie hat keine "bigundloudenboomer" bestetigen!

Hey, BULLETHEAD Seems, if you go back in history far enough, we're all relatives in the end.

You really don't have to go that far back. With everybody's number of potential ancestors increasing by a factor of 2 every generation back, it's rather less than 1000 years before every person's potential number of ancestors exceeds the population of Europe at that time. Thus, our last common ancestor was probably no more than a few centuries ago, and could well have been more recent.

For your Deunglish I'd say: Stell Dein Licht nicht unter den Scheffel

Bah, it gives me a headache, too :). In the future, if I ever do something similar, I'll try Franglish instead.

Yes, I'm trying that now. It's either that or a complete reinstall. The AI behaviour just went completely nuts in my last mission. Jasta 5 flying Alb DIII (early) dove down on two Bristols from RFC 48. 15-20 seconds later my flight had been wiped out by one Bristol. I was fighting the other one who kept hanging on his nose, stalling, recovering, hanging on his nose etc. Two of my wingies were falling down, one with his nose straight up, the other like a pancake.

Thanks for your help, Olham, appreciated as always.

Yes, but most of us don't talk about great great great great great great great great great grandfather. Such a scandal!

This was with 1.25 Olham. I'm thinking that it must be due to the language settings. Flew a bit more last night with english settings on and it might have been better. Actually ran into Black Flight (with Pups not Tripes thank the gods) and had a bit of the rough and tumble at really high alt. No weird Alb or AI behaviour spotted. I'll try it out some more and report back.
