How to Get Up Hills?

Often you can get more connected with a scenery by using a ground vehicle.
But all the ones I've tried lack the grunt to get up the steeper hills.
IS there a way to engage 4WD, hook Low Range, and climb cliffs?

IIRC there is a package by Rob Barendregt that uses a gauges to emulate gears, a tank or something, searching the usual for the author should turn something up.

Have you already tried this one?

FS2004/FSX Unimog. The Unimog (from the German "UNIversal MOtor Gerat" or universal power unit) is built by Mercedes-Benz and includes a family of utility and military general purpose medium trucks. Features doors, windows and top that opens. By Mitsuya Hamaguchi.[/SIZE]

Dunno how this model performs, but I can't imagine any real-life hill not climbable by an UNIMOG...
And Pablo "Hi-def-clouds" Diaz's photoreal textures are stunning:

My favorite FS ground vehicle is Piglet's Long Range Chevy army truck. lrdg1533.zip over at Flight Sim.

JDT: Thanks that Challenger certainly handles the hills!

robert41: but so does that Ford! Brilliant drive...

Wild Bill: Yes I have the Mog and its superb clothes, see this thread
Oleboy: but I'm not sure what [propeller]/thrust_scalar to use. The 1.5 from the Ford doesn't have too much effect.
claudius24: What value did you settle on?

I see Hama actually made provision for extra-low range gearing!

Although this has a 5kt limit.

Hi,

I put 3 .. but made no more test(s) with the Unimog .. as my interest in those vehicles is limited ..
Maybe 2 will be enough for climb the Hymalaya :)

:salute:
Dummkopf...I tried every Shift *something* but never thought a truck would have a spoiler.
All good then...

Chevy is a nice model, runs out of puff early in the Alps, which is probably correct

Noteworthy : Pablo Diaz has just released a V2 photoreal paint of the UNIMOG as well as a matte/de-shined model for it ... over at Avsim.

Cheers! Mike :salute:
