There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

How to kill the o.f.f. Manager for multi play

The only part that might be misleading to people is that last window. Some may interpret to mean rename the cfs3.exe, and what I think you are suggesting is to rename the cfs3 shortcut on the desktop..
And, if I understand it right, once we have done this, as long as we dont start up the game with the off manager (ie the "overflandersfield" shortcut, all we have to do for a mp game is start cfs3.exe.
Taking it one step further, if we DO happen to start the off manager, (for quick combat, or something else) then next time we want to do mp, we have to rerun the fix.
Or, as your instructions outline, we can have 2 off3 games on our computer, one for mp (with the fix established), and one for everything else.

WOW! At least MP will work this way but I sure hope the OFF developers come up with a patch soon!

Just making an educated guess here, but I am assuming when we run the fix we are running the off3 manager just far enough to set up a file/files, then killing the off manager so that those file/files dont get modified anymore.
If so, would like to know what file/files we are protecting.

Have you tried single player since? Just wondering if it mucks anything up...
a new fix will be out very shortly for onliner's
it will eliminate the manager completly and allow acess to all phases of the game include q/c.
its a carry over file from phase1 and works in phase 3.
isnt modding grande.
so those who like the manager and campaign mode will be allowed to do their thing, and for us onliners we will have a trouble free open phase 3 to enjoy.
i will of course be posting the info on my homepage O.F.F. section of my forume and the download will be available on my download site for ''the boys''.
I WILL ASK PERMISSION HERE and if its ok ill upload the files.
if not, it will be on my site http://pdsplace60thil2.myfastforum.org/forum19.php for any and all of my squadron members. any of my online adventures will be run out of our off forume as well except the unmodded game.
we are at present working on the modded game and all of its content will be on my download site as well.

no,,,the computer I put off3 on does not have a large drive on it, so cant do the "2nd copy" thing. So, if i want to play quick combat, I would have to redo pd's fix in order to do mp again.......so gonna leave it ready for mp.
Seems like they have someting for us not too far in the distance future, and am assuming that it will allow for switching beween mp and mission/campain/quick combat without any hassles.

Well if you eliminate the Manager you also eliminate the CFS3 run time code fixes so we cannot endorse this......and I think we all know what that means - FM DM AI etc...not P3 at all!!
Please be assured that we are working on this and will get it sorted.
Running without the manager is no solution at all!!

since we only fly on line i will release it on my private site for boy;s of 60 members only. i can assure you it works perfectly for our needs as onliner's only.i was on 2 hrs last night without a hitch.
should i post an online flight over here it will be with a none modded O.F.F. and after your fix is in.

Yes please by all means use it as a temporary workaround but all the P3 enhancments from gunjams all the way to AI FM etc (every fixed CFS3 issue) will be bypassed.
We are fully aware of the criticality of this and want to assure you that we are working on it!
