• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

How to land sideways 101 WOW!!

Would you rather be a pilot or a passenger on these landings? I think I would prefer to be a pilot knowing what is going on and having the option of a missed approach and using an alternate (as some did).

There are lots of videos on YouTube taken at St. Barts including several from in the cockpit. There is even one of a guy who got it wrong in so many ways it isn't funny and he still tried to plonk it down when the obvious way out was a go-around. Needless to say he ended up on the beach in a big cloud of sand.

'Fly Tampa' did an excellent add-on scenery pack for FSX that includes St. Barts along with SABA and Princess Juliana (and another airport I can't remember) and it really captures the feel of trying to get in there.

If you've traveled by air a lot, you've probably been on an airliner that has made just such a landing (maybe not so severe)...and not known it.

On the other hand, Hobbits would have difficulty looking over the seat arms out the window....
