It's been an open secret for a while, but Wilco's latest project has now been announced officially on their website. And the great news for FS9 users is that they're building for both platforms... Woohoo!! Finally a new Avanti to replace my ancient, high hour FSD model. Admittedly it's pricey like all Wilco products, but for me It's a must-have. Coming in March, so they say...

FS2004/FSX Piaggio P-180 Avanti, luxury jetprop, v2.0. Features animated gear, dampers, props, doors and control surfaces. Includes dynamic clickable virtual cockpit. By Mario Noriega. (Previous version had 9652 downloads.)

The panel on this plane is the earlier steam gauge panel, and the virtual cabin is rudimentary, but when you're flying the plane, you're focused on the panel and outside, so for a basic flyer like me this plane does the job. I find myself flying the traffic pattern and attempting smooth landings, which are particularly tricky on a rocket like this one.

So, Wilco had to do the extra animations and beautifully model the interior to justify the price. It's beautiful to look at, but I don't sit on the soft leather sofa when I fly the plane, so the freeware one suits me fine. This is the dilemma payware developers face when there are so many good freeware aircraft out there already.

I've always like Mario Noriega's version--fantastic visual model, but the panel from the FSD version was better.

As much as I prefer steam gauges, the glass cockpit of the Wilco model is intriguing. Let's see how it turns out.

Yeah we just had to go and do it to justify the price...sheesh why did we bother....perhaps we'd better call it all off....what a dilemma we find ourselves in...

Call it off....don't you dare...just when I got a new bit of plastic to splurge on!!

We get one of these in at work occasionally.....

Well Bazzar, there's always gonna be naysayers; comes with the territory. I liked Mario's freebee Avanti but dont have it because I prefer FSD's now ancient payware model due to the better VC. That's where I spend my FS time, using Track IR to scan the panel and check position in circuit. So for me a fairly functional high def VC is critical to suspending ones disbelief. I suspect there's also a heap of people who are looking forward to your new baby. I've been getting a bit of practice in the FSD model, in anticipation.

Cheers

I understand LPXO it's just that what gets my goat is the way somebody can, without even seeing anything other than a few screenies, just write off hundreds of hours of work by talented boys and girls. It's just plain stupid.

Happens a fair bit here these days, which is a shame, as it didn't use to be like that. Criticism is one thing, put downs for the hell of it are another...rant over back to work. Thanks mate.:wavey:
