FS9 - SIAI Marchetti SM 1019 (File version 1.0)
3.99Mb (181 downloads)
The SIAI Marchetti SM 1019 is a single-engine, high wing monoplane with tail-wheel type fixed landing gear.It was intended for Battlefield surveillance and forward air control. It's based upon the Cessna O-1 Bird Dog but posseses and extensively modified airframe to meet latest operational requirements, redesigned tail surfaces and a turboprop in place of the O-1's piston engine. STOL performance makes it easy to operate from any airfield. This FS aircraft model represents two different examples, the first one when in use with the Italian Army and the second when repainted by a civil user after the dismission from the Italian Army inventory. This post deserves a sticky!

A turbine Bird Dog, what a machine! Makes quite a capable Bush plane as I found out today.

Thanks for the HU! Mike :ernae:

A seriously well done job gents. :ernae:

Best small turbine sound package I have heard lately. And that rascal will not slow down until those turbines are inactive! :icon_lol:

Ir is an excellent bush plane, easy to land on short airfild, once one learns to control the turbine power.

Push on the throttle, give it some power and it hops smartly off the runway too....

Very nicely done, Massimo Taccoli and crew. :medals:

I can't seem to land this puppy.... Speed control is very difficult. Either you stall it of float forever. And the trim? Don't ever try to take off with the trim still set for landing. You can't put the nose down. Other than that she is very responsive but the trim changes needed for landing are pretty hard to deal with.

If you don't trim it wayyyyy nose up as the flaps come down and the speed falls, you run out of elevator at about 60 kts.

I'm gonna play with the cfg a little. Maybe if I make the flaps have a lot more drag, you can keep the power up enough to keep the prop on the gov. Pull the power back and it goes into beta and then it drops like a rock. Bring the power back up just a little and the runway is behind and way below you.....

This is a wonderful airplane! I just love it. Since I have no problem handling large files in FS9, I carried all main textures into DXTBitmap and saved them as 888-8 32 bit textures, they are worthy of that.

The prop blur, especially in the VC was too harsh. I made new prop blurs for the fast blur and slow blur and attached them in this post in a zip for those that care for them. Even though I mentioned it in the Read Me (so many do not), the new textures have a better effect if you edit the aircraft.cfg by adding this line below the ui_variation = ???:

prop_anim_ratio=1.040

I noticed in Flyboy's screens and in my own that there was a texture glitch in the civilian version which caused a shiny square in the starboard fuselage at the door.

This was caused by the Alpha channel. I corrected this and attach a new fuse_1019 texture in the zip belox with the new alpha.

My apologies to the developers if this was intended and correct in their Alpha, it just did not look correct compared to their Italian Army SM-1019 texture's Alpha.

Thanks for the two improvements Cazzie :applause:
Have you done anything to fix the eye view points yet ?

Hopefully I'll try tonight to get into the sim.

Pete.

That's more in claudius and OBIO's league Peter, but I'll take a look. I have the F1View module and it enables me to raise my view point and back away from the panel with the mouse and keypad.

The F1Viem Utility Module is freeware at Flight1 Software. Scroll down below the Registry Repair Tool: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library

It's aliased to the default Cessna 208.. :icon_lol:

Nice little aircraft though! :applause:

LOL, it works and it is basically the same engine, if I am not incorrect. Rascal is sneaky in its wind down, comes on all of a sudden. but it is very easy to fly and has just about become my favorite FS9 plane of late. I guess you know now just how much I have flown the default 208!
