Humbling yet exciting

A half hour ago I finished my first session in an AATD (FAA certificated flight simulator). This was part of my ground school class (in the second of five weeks). It was certainly fun, but my lack of real flying skill was apparent. The first attempt at a cross wind landing resulted in a landing off the runway. The second one was much more successful as was the power off (simulated engine failure) landing. The CFI was quite kind, but I felt like I couldn't do anything right. Of course almost all my previous experience was on FSX or X-plane without hydraulics attached.

In any case I am feeling excited and humbled all at once. Real flight training won't start for me until the end of June (assuming I complete ground school successfully).

Incidentally, the flight simulator is based on Microsoft's commercial product. I recognized the graphics immediately. Six screens for the view and two for the instruments was a lot more than I have at home though.
