Huntable parachutes

This may seem crass to some, I apologize, but what needs to be done to make parachutes and pilots targets? Every now and again i get a good shot and cannot capitalize. Please help my sim experience.

I don't know about shooting them down.:kilroy:

But for the sake of realism, I would like them to be solid objects. During the heat of battle I have unintentionaly flown through many a parachute. At the risk of sounding morbid, I would like them to cause some degree of damage when this happens.

Yes, Mr Foo! That would be good also. I'd like to score pilots however, or at least get a kill.

Not at all, I know that during the BoB there were reports of parachuting airmen being shot at. If bailing over friendly territory that pilot could be flying again in hours, however 'unsporting' it was he was a legitimate target. Rescue aircraft were similar targets too.

I don't think there's any difference in parachute styles in-game is there?
Quite often in a large battle I'll see a numer of 'chutes drifting down but wouldn't know if it was friendly or not?

The same could be said for the situations where your plane should be hit by enemy plane's debris, after the exploding A/C desintegrates before your windscreen. No damage is caused.

As for the parachute shooting I prefer the sim the way it is now.:kilroy:

These are good points by all, and still my question stands: Is there a way to make parachutes targetable?

I foresee one day where CFS4 or 5 will contain the marvelous work done by the ETO expansion and PTO crews as well as the following.
  • Complex damage such as engine oil on windscreen, cockpit smoke, etc
  • Enhanced communication to wingmen
  • Video review from various viewpoints (imagine being able to attack in one screen, and in another see the results)
  • Physics
Simulators can only become more realistic, right? Anyway, I've gone off point here.

Does anybody have a way to make parachutes targetable?

I suppose you could make a model parachute & pilot as an 'aircraft' in cfs3 and have it spawning in missions? Probably look a bit odd though..
