Hurricane Mk IV Missions Slideshow

BeauBrummie

Home for tea and tiffin!
I have made a small set of Hurricane IV missions for the ETO 1.3 update. They include the rocket firing and 40mm S-gun versions. All are historical based on the early missions of 184, 137 and 164 squadrons who were the only squadrons to operate this type in the ETO. Click n the thumnail to see the slideshow.

Good stuff! Just love the hurri - I'm flying one in my BoB camapign at the moment. Can't wait for the new ones :icon29:

Thanks for the response guys. The missions are all based in the summer of '43. They were the first squadrons to use rockets. Quote 184 sqn history:

Formed at Colerne on the of 1st December 1942,to be a fighter bomber squadron . Initially, Mark IIDs with 40 mm anti-tank cannon were received and the squadron trained with the Army in ground attack practice guns, bombs and rockets, replaced the IIDs and rockets became the main anti-tank weapon used by the Second TAF. Attacks on enemy shipping began on 17 June 1943 and cross-channel operations became the squadron's main task, but 184 in particular was very active against V1 targets .

The rockets were deemed as top secret, so at first they were not allowed to use them over occupied territory, so initially they were used for anti-ships raids of the Fench and Dutch coast. The IV's could interchange with rockets or the cannon. These cannon Hurri's would carry out rhubarb patrols shooting up trains, truck convoys, and coastal barge traffic. I have covered these areas ad Led Zep has done a No-Ball raid by the rocket Hurri's.

In play, they perform well, and I was able to take out fighters with the two .303's. The AI wingmen performed well. However the cannon armed wingmen tended to run out of ammo as they would fire in long bursts.

I enjoyed flying these a lot.
