Hush Software World Terrain

Looks like a bit of a mixed bag but I'll reserve judgement, might take up the trial offer.
Be curious to see if it plays alongside ORBX.

Well, it depends what you mean by "play alongside". You will be able to have them both installed (ORBX and PR) but PR will override FTX landclass terrain and autogen, ie regions. Photoreal airports will appear as normal, as long as they are placed above the PR in the scenery library.

This program does look interesting. However I would like to learn more about their sources, and the availability. They say whole world coverage and 60 cm per pixel, but surely that depends on availability of imagery.

Although $49 isn't a lot to pay (relatively) it must also be considered that you can already download freeware photoreal for a lot of the globe, although, again, it would be good for areas that have not been covered.

BTW, they mention that TP was an inspiration for this software, but this is from a different developer.

Cheers,

Just a hint, I would put a hold on buying it for the moment.

There seems to be a legal issue with the licensing of the suppliers of the texture tiles. I already wondered how they found a solution for that. Using GE or Bing as satellite or aerial imagery in the sim is not legal without a contract.

I thought I'd add this since I started the thread.

Cheers,
Mark

Very good point Mark, I also wondered where they were getting their textures. After reading the comments at Avsim and seeing some of the images I am leaving this alone. Photo real textures are great for small areas in my book. One can add autogen and objects for realism in small areas. This program has no object including trees etc. Just plain flat. Low altitude flying doesn't look that good in my book. The concept is something to watch especially if objects come with the photo real textures in the future.

The legal problem was exactly the same with TileProxy, or any other piece of software allowing you to download the pictures from any of the main servers (Google map, Bong etc...), wasn't it ?
Concerning the sceneries, it is possible to generate your own autogen based on OSM data using some useful freeware tooks like ScenProc.
Then you just need to move that autogen (AGN files) into the corresponding area folder, and you'll get autogen on your downloaded photoscenery.

For the record, nowadays autogen on large photoreal tiles looks great. It used to be quite ugly, indeed, but that was the past.

That being said, I tried that "World Terrain" with the free trial period (15 days) this morning for an area around the north of Japan.
It did work quite well, although my network connection was too slow.
I also generated some autogen for that area but unfortunately, I choose a bad source which was pretty empty for that area (openstreetmap.org). A few buildings appeared nevertheless, so it was at least of proof of concept.
