I-18 fiighter in ETO expansion 1.20

I noticed there is a Spanish Civil War fighter entiled "I-18" in the recent ETO expansion update. Was this an I-16 variant? It has fixed landing gear. I seem to remember that the I-16 was one of the first metal monoplane fighters to have retractable landing gear, so was this another version of the I-16 supplied to the Republicans?

Also, from the exterior view, it has an open cockpit. But from the VC view, it is closed. Was there a version of the I-16 with a closed cockpit?

yea I also noticed this, never knew there was an I-18 even googled it and didn't find anything

Hi wsmwsm,

its the same version, the landing gear is yet to be finished. the VC hit shift C to open the cockpit, it then takes on the correct appearance in game. the VC was a work around to get a half decent pit in game.

hopefully in a future update this plane can be polished up a bit.

regards Rob.

Got it. Hope to see the corrected version soon. It's an interesting aircraft. Also noticed there is a Soviet paint scheme when winter is set as the season.

One other quick inquiry. When starting the plane at altitude, it immediately drops its nose and heads toward the ground. The flight angle is then easy to correct, but was this a characteristic of the plane?

Good work. Thanks.

Hi wsmwsm,

the droping nose is a function of how the FM was built, there are several planes that exhibit this trend, and I dont know how to fix it (yet)

soviet winter scheme, hmmm have to fix that in 1.30

regards Rob.

I have to ask if Greycap could make one with soviet paintjob so I can feel good about shooting it down with my FAF Gladiator.. :woot: the more the merrier!
