What is the difference between the Loadstar, Rounder and the Harpoon and are there FSX versions for all these?
I have the Loadstar (FSX)

IMHO they resemble each other.

EDIT: The Loadstar and the Harpoon I know about. The "rounder" I guess was a nickname or a term or whatever that was confusing me.

I guess the rounder term is for round engines?

Lockheed Lodestar Low Flyby and Landing

Nice video of Loadstar. Just restored Lockheed with new engines doing a few flybys in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

Lockheed L-18 Lodestar Startup

Lockheed L-18 Lodestar built in 1941. Initially owned by Canadian Pacific Airlines during WWII to facilitate an oil pipe line construction from Canada to the US supporting the war effort. Afterwards was a corporate airplane for Bethleham Steel.

The term I used in that thread, "Rounder" was to represent what we now know is a series of Lockheed radial-based aircraft I planned to release over several years. I guess I should have started with the civilian L-18 "Lodestar", then to the military variants, and progressed to the PV-1 Ventura, then the PV-2 Harpoon. That's another story.

The Lodestar is based on the Lockheed civilian L-18 air-frame ( a follow-on of the L-14 but longer) impressed into military service as the C-56, 57, 59, 60 depending on engine and other internal arrangements.

Lockheed got an order from the British Purchasing Commission to build 2941 Hudsons (L-14 based) but submitted a proposal to the British Air Ministry to build a new, improved aircraft based on the L-18 air-frame. This would become the B-37 Vega Ventura, and afterwards a PV-1 designation in the US war effort.

That evolved through a series of improvements to become the PV-2 Harpoon with stronger wings and larger vertical stabilizers to carry heavier loads.

There's plenty of info on the web about that evolution of aircraft series and all the ins/outs.

Here's a good one: http://www.microworks.net/pacific/aviation/pv_ventura.htm

Also know as Lockheed Twins, the family started with the L10 Electra, L12 Electra Jr, L14 Super Electra, L18 Lodestar, PV-1 Ventura & PV-2 Harpoon. Howard Aero converted a lot of Lodestars and Venturas to executive transports before they brought out the almost totally new build Howard 500.
