I feel a little sad today,

Dude! Hop over to Flightsim.com. Grab Mr. Ito's Mig-21bis. It looks great and has a VC. Flight dynamics need work, but you could easily swap in the FDE set from the FS France model.

Or you could grab Ivan's first Mig-21 (F-13 variant) which is FS9 and FSX. Wonderfully modeled...but I could never get the plane to start.

5 configurations (Clean, with Pylons, Pylons and Weapons, Pylons and Tanks, Fully Equipped). VC isn't super duper, but it's better than no VC. External modeling is on par with Ito's work...which is really good. Animations are smooth. Flight dynamics...well, Mr. Ito never claimed that he was a flight dynamics expert.

If the FS France Mig-21 is readily available, I'll grab it and do the FDE swap and throw some effects onto Ito's Mig-21. Too bad he doen't allow his MDL files to be modified...if he did, I would deshine the plane a bit and give it reflective texturing. Those two tweaks would really make the plane stand out.

Cool, i didnt know ito did a 21, i'll have to check that out but i'd still recomend the FsFrance model, the external modelling is supurb, esp with the repaints from the guys i mention'd,
cheers ian

I know the quality of the FS France planes....but with no VC, that puts the plane on my No Fly list. I fly from the VC only, especially now that I have a $150 TrackIR 4 system to use...thanks to a generous SOH member who sent me the set as a present this past Christmas.

Unless you fly from the 2D panels, you won't want anything else but the Mig-21 f-13 from Ivan. There is also some nice variations like the E-152 and E-166 which have nice virtual cockpits too.

Here is the E-166 for example. The afterburner looks really good, but I'll have to read the manual to find out how to switch on the HUD :p

And the VC:

oh btw, The F-13 is still okay to me. But after testing the FSX version I agree with Ian. How I wish to have this bird in FS9 !!! :-( Of course to get the repaint below for it. It's made by Frank "Panavia" Felix from vGAF. Unfortunatly this paint was never on a F-13.
