I had a Celestron C-8 telescope from 1983. But my back and lower limbs have rendered me too feeble to haul the thing around. So I gave it to my oldest son, since astronomy is one thing he picked up from me. I was searching Google for telescopes for the handicapped and this thing showed up. It's from the PRC, but let me tell you, it is one quality product, even the packaging and shipping is first-rate. A solar filter is also included. So far the firmware doesn't do as good a job with the planets, but the company is constantly uploading new firmware. Actually it is not a telescope, but a Canon EOS sensor at the end of the unit's lens. The App that operates the SeeStar is available for Android and iOS only so far. It weighes only 6,6 pounds, maybe 9 pounds altogether with the enclosed super tripod. The mount is alt-azimuth, not polar, but it tracks fantastic as long as the unit is level. That is the only key point, the unit HAS to be level.
JimBill. that's a beaut! I had to give my Celestron C-8 tp my oldest son. At 78 I have become too feeble to move it about, much less box it and set it up for groups like boy scouts, girl scouts, churches, schools, etc.. So I went looking for something fopr the handicapped to still gaze the heavens and came up with the SeeStar S50.
