I HAD it running.......

FS Veteran
..... but then Pete's FSUIPC installation was telling me that P3D was not properly installed in the Registry. I know I saw quite a few warnings after install, but hey.... it worked.

Anyway, I uninstalled it all..... and then tried to re-install it again. But it continues giving me weird and complex error messages upon completing the install...... something that 'keys' cannot be completed. I suspect it fails to write my registry for some reason ..... BUMMER :toilet_claw:

And it is not like I haven't installed FS for the first time in these past 35 years.......

Hey Francois,

Sorry man. That's odd. The only thing I can think is that you were using the P3D 1.4 version FSUIPC which would explain why it wasn't in the correct registry.

Mr. Dawson should be back soon from Holiday and have a new version of FSUIPC ready. He did have one for the Beta's, (several actually). I never downloaded one. You might ask at the P3D website (forums) if anyone has a Beta FSUIPC you could use till Mr. D is back in town and can make an official version.

I hope you get P3D running again. Try clearing out the registry and then allowing P3D v2 to create a new Registry (if they do that).

I know nothing about Registries except that they can really mess things up.

FSUIPC is not the primary problem.... it just signaled that something with V2 was wrong.

I retried the V2 installation (after uninstalling it) and indeed it comes up with an error message at the end and won't install. I'll try and copy the message and post it on the P3D forums when I can get in !

If I were you, and if its easy, just redownload it. There might be one single thing wrong with it, missing data fragment, that's doing this. Probably why it wouldn't run the first couple of times.

Just humble advice.

I went and read about some of the problems over at AVSIM, bugs etc.. Not sure I am going to jump on the wagon right away, I want to but it might just be best to wait a couple weeks.

Now downloaded it for the fourth time...... and had 15 BYTES more in the zip file. Who knows!? Starting another afternoon of installing...... :02.47-tranquillity: (while I really should be WORKING)....

"0xffffff7 Unspecified Error - Setup failed"

Well, that wasn't very helpful........ grrrrrrrrrrrrr.... :heart-borken:

Hi Francois, I am sorry to hear of your problems. Knowing you and Lionheart, between the two of you, you will get it working. :)

Since, I will be busy with business travel until Christmas, I won't even bother to purchase it until later. I have been waiting for V2 to come out. The early reviews do look promising.

A really clever fellow found a Band-Aid "fix" to get FSUIPC's GUI to display. I made it a sticky post at AVSIM so folks can find it easily.

"0xffffff7 Unspecified Error - Setup failed"

Well, that wasn't very helpful........ grrrrrrrrrrrrr.... :heart-borken:

I think this is the same error I had on my first try....
How much free space do you have on your C drive ? (the drive with the OS on it)
No matter which drive you select as a destination for the installation of P3D, the setup program WILL copy some temporary files on the C drive. You NEED at least 10 Gb free on that drive, else the setup will fail with an error message.

If you installed it once already, but didn't clean these temporary files, then the lack of space might be the reason why your new tries are failing.

183 Gb free space still...... that should be sufficient, shouldn't it? ANd installed it (or tried to) on a drive with 175 Gb free and no other Lockheed installs on it.

What worries me more actually is the total lack of support from Lockheed devs or forum managers.

Strange...

For the LM guys, I believe they are simply crawling under the amount of new topics in their forums. I wouldn't expect any support from them anytime soon.

Back to your problem. If I try to do a little summary:
- you downloaded the files several times
- the first time, you managed to install the game, but you had a few warning or error messages
- then you uninstalled the game
- you tried to download again, and the size of the downloaded file was different ?
- now you can't install, you get an error message during the install process.

I would advise you to take a look at the log file. When you get that popup error window, it contains a link to the install log file, doesn't it ? Have you taken a look into it, to try to spot anything "explicit" inside ? (that won't be easy)

Yes, I looked at the log, but too much mumble-jumble for me ( I was a programmer 35 years ago, not anymore ... *grin*). It 'looked like' it returned error messages after some DX entries, but as far as I can tell my DX11 installation is normal and I don't see any entries in the registry telling me wrong....

I had the exact SAME error message on installing 3 times.... but ONCE it let me 'ignore' them and P3D installed anyway and it ran..... minus my X53 rudder pedals.

After the second install and the THIRD installation I got the same error message again at the end of the process, but it then also failed to install altogether.

I posted part of the log file on P3D forums....... but no (serious) reply.....

I'm wondering if your Visual C++ is up to date. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2019667
Your symptoms are strange Francois, because I have version 1.4, and v2.0 installed in the same directory. Prior to installing v2.0 I uninstalled v1.4 and cleaned up the recommended areas. Then I installed v2.0. Once it was running, I re-installed v1.4.

Hopefully you get things sorted. From what I read all over the place there are a lot of bugs in the program causing havoc.

I can try that...... have updated just about everything else I could think of by now, including .Net and other such elusive programs :)

Francois, good luck. I'm having all kinds of problems also. I had v1.3, working decent, but not well. Then, when v1.4 came out, I tried to install it over 1.3. It would not do it, it wanted to uninstall 1.3. after the 3rd attempt, I allowed it to do the uninstall. Things went downhill from there. It seemed none of the registry was cleared, and there are over a thousand registry entries!!!! EVERY scenery object has it's own GUI number in FSX, and in P3D. Fine, but they also EACH have their own, individual registry entry!!! I'm about half way thru deleting them from the registry, one at a time. NONE of the registry cleaners, freeware or payware work! I've spent more on registry cleaners than on the two P#D programs combined! Only one of the registry cleaner companies would refund my money. :heart-borken: None of the Microsoft help sites work, none of the LM help forums work, and it seems the error I am getting is fairly common in Vista and WIN7. (I can't find my error report, so don't remember the error number, without trying to install again.) I'm not going to spend the money on V2 until I can get 1.4 installed. 1.3, my original version, won't reinstall, either. and LM didn't help at all, even though my particular error was being reported by others, also.:heart-borken:
