First what controlls the alt and min. speed of Ai aircraft in the mission builder? The idea is this ,if I can bring the min alt and speed down to zero or at least to about 10kts and the alt down to zero then we could us B24 Guys Ai folded wings aircraft to land and takeoff from a carrier and to taxy along the ground not to mention doing tuch and gos.Anyone have any ideas?

You can't make those sorts of changes in Mission Builder but you can hand edit the mission to reduce the AI altitude and speed to anything you want, including 0/0. However, if you do that they probably will crash at the start of the mission.

For example, if you create a flight of AI bombers then edit the starting altitude to zero (ground level) and the speed to zero (or 10 kph) they wont start out taxiing along the ground. Since they were originally flying when you wrote the mission they will start with their gear up and crash as soon as the mission starts.

With regards to the B24 Guy's folded wing AI, if they were modeled with folding wings wouldn't they stay that way? Even if you could do what you want you would end up with planes with folded wings flying around.

The B24 Guys folded wings AI are mulity load so as you get away at some distance they show with the wings down and locked in the flying possition.Thies AI have the landing gear locked in the down possion. If I could controll the alt and speed which is located someplace in the aircraft folder I could have not only carrier takeoffs but landings and deck ops as well. The problem with doing an edit to the mission is it has to be done everytime you make a correction to said mission. This along with spawning and getting the timming correct so that it looks real + doing the edit bit will take alot of time and if you have to do alot of missions it could take well into 2012 before you finish and then someone is going to want to add or correct one or more missions and that screws up all the work you did.The reason I am asking is because I am tired of landing on the deck of an empty carrier and I am sure others feel the same way but just haven`t said anything.

That's one reason I fly online with another sim.16 planes on deck with wings folded except the Dauntless and a catapult for takeoffs of heavy loads.Plus it's fun to watch everyone land, fold their wings and pull forward to the bow for the next plane to land. The AI also land on the carrier.

Simonu's AI traffic works very well and adds a lot to mission building, particularly at the start or completion when taking off or landing. They follow set waypoints like vehicles do and behave very predictably and as directed and kick up dust as they go. They really are vehicles and the sim treats them that way.

Besides the B-24, Simonu also made a taxiing model for the C-47 and both will take standard MS skins, so you can dress them up to match units at various airfields and theaters.

Here's a few shots of a B-24 unit following a "Follow Me" jeep somewhere in the Pacific.

Jag, I need all the carrier aircrraft to do that. If they could be turned into ships at least I could have them on the deck of a moving carrier. It would also be nice to be able to watch the AI training AC do touch and goes.

I don't know how Simonu converted the planes. At one time I thought that he was going to convert a few more AI planes to vehicles, but there didn't seem to be a lot of interest.

The planes go into a special "Trafic" folder in the root CFS 2 folder so they didn't count against the plane limit of CFS 2. It was an ingeneous solution and I had a hoot beta testing and playing with them. An interesting freature was that the B-24 and PBJY-1 gunners were just as alert in the taxiing planes as they were in the air and they'd take a fearful toll of any enemy strafing them while they were taxiing.

Perhaps you can PM Simonu and ask for some specific AI traffic planes. Simonu has always been most generous with his talants.
