An amazing fact about all birds in general and not just parrots. They are the only species beside Homo Sapiens that has a spot in their brain for speech. They do not just recognize sounds, they can mimic them. That is the difference between the great apes and man. We can recognize vernal patterns and repeat them, apes cannot. they can grunt, howl, and squeal, but they cannot repeat verbal patterns. They can sign, but they cannot speak. Birds, on the other hand, do speak to their designated breed. Many, like parrots, crows, and even jays, can even mimic other birds and animals.
How is that for a bird brain?
