I know better, but STILL messed it up....

Last night I was installing Dino's latest version of his outstanding Tomcat into P3D. I was looking at the list of installed aircraft, and decided to delete some of the ones I rarely, if ever, fly. Well, without thinking, I deleted some of the default aircraft. Big mistake. When I went to launch P3D, the "installer" screen popped up. Oops. I looked to see if there is a "repair" function, but couldn't find one. So had to uninstall P3D. Grrrrr.... Not as daunting as FSX, but still a pain. The biggest thing I have to deal with is reinstalling addons like FSUIPC and Accu-Feel. Sigh.......NC

Why did you not simply open the Recycle Bin in Windows Explorer, locate the "deleted" folders, and then "Restore" them?

No file or folder is ever actually "deleted," they are simply "moved*" to the Recycle Bin where they will remain until you deliberately "Empty the Recycle Bin" manually.

Even then the actual data bits remain, but since their "addresses" are no longer available, it's much more difficult -but not impossible- to recover them intact.

I strongly urge everyone who doesn't know about the Recycle Bin and how to recover stuff they've accidentally "fat finger deleted" invest a few minutes to learn how simple the recovery process is.

See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/recover-files-from-the-recycle-bin for a text and video showing how easy it is!

* Actually files aren't physically moved at all, but the technical details aren't really that important to know...

Because by the time I realized what had happened, I had already emptied the Recycle Bin. I know that the information is still retrievable, but that level of computer knowledge is way beyond my comprehension. NC

Oh well. Happens...

Many planes use the default aircraft for gauges and sounds. Always good to leave them in there, (information for others that didn't know).

Oh I agree, and know that:) I just forgot for a moment what happens when one is deleted. NC

Got P3D reinstalled, but now having problems with over-sensitivity of X52 controls, plus not sure how to reinstall Accu Feel.

I know you can adjust the sensitivity of the joystick axis'. I had to do this the other day. In the Controls page of the Settings center, you'll see a tab for Axes on the top. There, its pretty much self explanatory. Just experiment till its the way you like it. One setting is 'all Axes', which is probably the one you need.
