• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

I'm preparing to format my computer and re-install my CFS2. Can you help me? They are the only planes I have not in my external disk.

I have 7 of them.

If I remember correctly, though, they need passwords to install.

I'm not sure if I still have his email with the passwords.

Yashico's Addons

If I remember, earlier this year there was some talk of trying to do a "rescue" of Yashico's addons for archiving here at SOH but I don't know if there was any progress made. I have some of his Japanese aircraft and I kept the passwords as well. Let me dig through my archives and see what I can come up with.

If he has closed down his site and is non-responsive, what are the parameters within which we can upload his work for future generations since we do not seek money for them and always give the original authors their just recognition?

Could we say we are preserving them and put a disclaimer stating we will remove them if he contacts us with an objection?

Last I heard, Yashiko was having some health problems. That was several years ago. Don't have much to offer other than that. He did send me all of the passwords, with any luck at all, I still have them in my PC.
 
I found a mail he kindly sent me way back with all the codes for his planes, in case someone needs them. I think, I also have all, or at least most of his great planes. Old, yes, but still in the very high end. He is a true masterdesigner.

I completely agree to share all kinds of nonprofit work.
I agree with everything done in this thread up here.
But I also agree that the owner can make their claims when they feel that their conditions are not respected.
The work belonged to a site and codes to its owner (which for some reason were not public knowledge).


Because I am not the owner, I have nothing to complain.


I just remember someone told me here once, I should not contradict the wishes of Kasunouri Ito, and was not even about him.


Not my style to engage in polemics, and I will not do it.

First of all, I have them in my hard disk, but they were corrupted when I needed to reinstall CFS2 a few months ago. Second point, I can not repair them without fresh files. Third, Yasuhiko Sasaki sent me his codes to open the zip files. I'm not asking for Kasunori Ito's planes and I defended his position about the CFS2 conversion of his works.

I just counted them all up and realized I have 37 of his aircraft... from what I can tell based on looking at his website via the internet archive, that should be all of them. But I didn't see, and don't have, a KI-61-III ( I have two Ki-61-IIs though...)

Unfortunately, I never got passwords from Yashico (somewhere long ago I heard that it was because I have an AOL e-mail address), so except for the versions of the A5M that were unlocked a few years ago, there they've sat. Finn, would you mind if I PM'd you for some passwords?

I would be happy to share the files I have if need be...

I have the same 37 aircraft that Yashico put out. I'm assuming he didn't make a KI-61-lll because I don't have it either.
 
I see now...

Okay... Upon having a look at the aircraft labeled 'YS2K61IIB', it has the cut-down rear fuselage and tear-drop canopy that wound up on the later Ki-100s... which would make it the prototype of the Ki-61-III. 'Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War' says it's a Ki-61-II that they modified, the only one they modified that way...

...because questions are being asked about a CFS2 native F1M Pete, a N1K1-J George, & the BPF Campaign will need a B7A Grace.

  • Yashico's A5M Claude is already in the library (a collaboration with Xavier)
  • Yashico's Pete was included in Ramis RAAF auto installer campaign

So, can we save these models for future use, or are we stuck requesting somebody such as Allen, Wolfi or Baldy to knock us up some new ones? :pop4:

UncleTgt,

Before Talon died, he sent me the pass codes for all of Yashico's aircraft. If someone wants to upload them, I can include the password for each aircraft.
