I reinstalled FS9

SOH-CM-2024
I have been having so many problems with FSX crashing. I got fed up and reinstalled FS9. Loaded the Aerosoft A-10 and the A2A Me-109.

WOW! That Me-109 is one sweet little plane. I did some playing in the clouds. This is where you try to fly the edge of the clouds and not actually touch them. It is a great exercise in learning to maneuver the airplane unconsciously. It also teaches you to be comfortable in any attitude,

I was amazed how maneuverable and powerful that little plane was. Spent 30 mins just screwing around. Never stayed straight and level for more than 30 seconds.

AND FS9 never crashed once. Amazing? Never knew a sim could be so steady.

I have both installed. I am so glad I didn't erase FS9. It will remain on my system until my computer buys the farm, and when I can afford a new system, I will reinstall FS9.

Welcome back from the Dark Side :icon_lol:

:censored: I shouldn't have said that :banghead:

No offense to....

:costumes: None taken. I love the visuals and the cockpits of FSX. I don't plan on giving it up. However, a guy does have to fly.

Now, I will reinstall some scenery add-ons and dig through my FS9 collection for some favorite toys.

I have ordered a sound card. If that doesn't fix the crashes, I plan on reinstalling FSX from scratch. I think I will keep FS9 on afterward. :costumes:

John, my system is no where near as good as yours and my FSX doesn't crash. Nor FS9 either. Sliders aren't set to max, but at least 60 to 75%. And not much added on..... just WOP WWII Fighters Special Edition in both, and a couple of other things. No addon scenery..... yet.

I would never think of uninstalling FS9. Everything in it are more true to VFR flying. The Fall textures came in just one week ago, which is dead on for where I live. In FSX, the fall textures are gone, replaced nopw by Winter textures. The seasons in FSX are not in match. I may test FS9 anout 3 weeks from now ehen the leaves are really gone and Winter textures should take over and see what is displayed. I wonder if there is a cfg file in both FS9 and FSX to control the date that seasonal textures come into play?

Welcome back John, you know what a load of material is available for this old tried and true flight sim.

Caz, just from what I have saved for FS9, I'd need a dedicated FS computer with nothing else on it. Well my Tracker IR4, Cougar HOTAS and some other stuff of course. ;)

Welcome Back to Flying Status.

PC Programming Postings ( Fsx ) have noting to do with flying
for any pilots having wings and in fact are for "windowsexuals".

Like many others I have both and both run very stable. Nevertheless I fly FS2004 most of the time, mainly because my favourite add-ons are mostly FS2004 and don't port over to FSX very well.

My FS2004 is more or less what I made from it over the years, where FSX is still very much "from the box". And to be honest I think Bill Lyons Silver Wings autumn looks much better than FSX default autumn desert :costumes: .

The A2A BF109 Emil is one of the aircrafts which work perfect both in FS9 as in FSX (after the FREE update)!

I just recently reinstalled Fs9 to its own dedicated drive. Now i have both sims on there own dedicated drives. One thing ill say Fs9 has plenty of strengh equal to FSX and stability Fs9 owns hands down, considering fs9 allows a wide range of computer specs and is user friendly in a wide range of simmer's skills.

Sorry for the late response to you guys. I was offshore and mo internet, except for my cell phone.

I never actually "Uninstalled" FS9. I just didn't install it when I built the new computer at the beginning of this year.

At least I can now fly in an Alaska that LOOKS like Alaska.

GT-182, I am running several programs that run my flight sim cockpit along with FSX. It could be one of them that is giving me problems?

I also just got an email this morning that the sound card I ordered an Revolution 7.1 by M Audio has been discontinued. :banghead: and won't be shipped.

John, do you load all your programs before you load FS9? Try running those you can one at a time with FS9. You might find one causing a problem. It could also be the drivers for one that's messing things up. Mind you it just a thought. ;)

That was the most AWESOME part of FS2004 that I enjoyed the most when I had first purcahsed it was flying through the mountains of Alaska checking out the land.... I still fly it in and around there. It is brilliant!! (and no sand :d ).
