I Should Have Bought This Book Earlier Rather Than Later

"The British Pacific Fleet: The Royal Navy's Most Powerful Strike Force" by David Hobbs, Seaforth Publishing 2011.

Great book. I should have had it before I started the BPF campaign.

I now have to move Sukama Airbase on Miyako Jima from the east side of the island to the west side.
Hobbs' book has lots of maps and aerial photos from 1945.

:jump::biggrin-new::triumphant: It is good, isn't it?

Yes, it is excellent!

The online Google version is quite inexpensive.

I won't violate Hobb's copyrighted material, but if any scenery guru folks would like to build scenery from it, I am more than willing to contact the publisher and see if I can obtain permission to email some of the maps and photos for our sim purposes.

I would hope since we are primarily a free gratis organization they would permit us to share those.

Also, when I complete the missions for the campaign, as always with my work, I credit the books and sources used.

Thanks for the heads up about this book!

I can't resist-

I post this link to my October 12th post on your thread "Do we have OR can someone build Japanese Towns?"

After reading this thread I went ahead and purchased the Google version just so I could get a look at whatever map of Miyako Jima it contained. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had doped out the location of Sukama as accurately as I had from the old spotty aerial photos.

Sorry, just had to toot my own horn a little. :^)

MR,
Toot away my friend!!! :wiggle:

As you can see, there seems to be a renewed interest in the Pacific war from our brothers and sisters here in the basement.

You have added greatly to my PTO experience flying this old sim and I appreciate your contributions greatly.
(Don't know if in the past years I ever got around to saying that to you directly and publicly.)

Achim did a wonderful Nabaro airfield on Miyako Jima with GSL buildings. All I have had to do is add the AA guns to his bunkers.

I am working in Mid May 1945 right now toward the final BPF mission on 24 May.

Before I begin the BPF TF 37 missions I am going to re-fly all the missions of Operation Iceberg I, Iceberg Oolong, Iceberg Redux, and Iceberg II.
There are close to 100 missions, so it is going to take some time.
