I was looking at some of the new entries over at Simviation when I found this nifty freeware website for classic jetliners. Lot of 707, 727, DC-8, DC-9 and some military applications such as the EC-135, TC-135 and KC-135. Looks pretty good so far so I'm in the process of putting a TC-135 together. The site is pretty comprehensive, they have sounds and panels for each base model and a nice assortment of repaints for what ever you want to fly.

Best site ever for freeware classic jetliners. :jump:

They strive for accurate flight characteristics to, as well as actual airline liveries. :applause:

Pete.

Yep, Historic Jetliners Group. I keep their 727 and L1011 ready to go in the hanger.

I'll tell ya... the FM for the TC-135 is deadly accurate. I had to go back and look over the panel and re-read the fuel consumption docs. A hard one to slow down for the proper approach without getting yelled at by the alarm systems. I was suitably impressed with the visual model and the flight handling characteristics, I went back and downloaded the entire "135" set, including the tankers, the strategic trainers and the different versions of "Air Force One" for the "707". There are also different panels to choose from. No VC, but the panel views are excellent.

Yes excellent a/c. I do wish they would consider upgrading their planes with VC's and/or FSX/P3D them. but they get a bit antsy when the subject is raised. My only fear is that as time marches on they will be left behind.

I do agree about the VC. That would be icing on the cake.

Some... actually a majority of the models will work in FSX, with the provided panels, gauges and sounds. This according to the documentation in the panels section. Maybe not P3D or Acceleration. I fly FSX/A as well as FS9, and FS9 looks almost as good as my FSX install and runs like hot butter on my systems. For a diehard FS9er like myself, I will always have a need for the HJG site. Just sayin'.:applause::applause: I realize at some point that FS9 will eventually die off but I will be flying there for a long time to come. Flight surgeons will probably have already pulled me ticket before FS9 goes compleatley away...LOL!! :icon_lol: I will have downloaded all the files I need from HJG by that time.

:wiggle: I suspect that you and a 'certain young Gentleman of mutual aquaintance' spent Friday night stumbling around under the influence of a particularly highly intoxicating Hellenic beverage...again!

Nice find, though!

The 727, 707 and 135 series are, as you say; excellent. The sounds are extremely good too.

FS9's not going anywhere - that was just your hangover talking! :isadizzy:

If you don't get the iced cake you're looking for, you can at least munch away on this one :birthday2

Thought I'd keep this :USA-flag: safe - just until you sober up, BB.

i am not -hic- under the influenshhh -hic- of aaaanything offishur.....

:icon_lol: *Coughs to clear throat* anyways yeah HJG has always been a kinda 'Home' for me... and FS9 isn't going anywhere soon, we see ebbs and flows in the comunity, some fly FS9 and FSX, some fly FSX then switch down to 9, others vice versa... most seem to forget FS9 is a Decade old or thereabouts now, so it won't have the graphics of FSX, but as long as i can repaint and as long as there's reference, i will not leave FS9 and my Comrades behind! :salute::ernae:

*Now where's that backup barrel of 12* :running:

:bump: :running: Not so fast, sunshine!

I think you're right about ebbs and flows - the actual sim is as fresh as a daisy, with so many feasible possibilities which have barely been touched. The silliest element, from a marketing POV, was to name it 2004. That immediately tagged it as ageable.

IMO 9 and X are both great sims which deserve a place on anyone's setup.

Great to see you around buddy! :wavey:

Aw Crikey, Matt... Cover's blown, mate. I knows that FS9 isn't going anywhere soon. Good to know you'll be around as well. I fly both just to remind myself how good FS9 runs for me, but I have some pretty interesting aircraft for FSX. At any rate, I'm flying those vintage Boeing 135's around in my virtual skies, and having a blast.

BB686:USA-flag: <-- Got back from ya' Nigel!
