Prior to his NASCAR career,
A.J. Allmendinger was the hottest American driver in CART. He amassed 4 quick wins while whipping the pants of then champion Sebastian Bourdais.

Well for the last couple of years, Helio Castroneves hasn't had his usual shine. It wouldn't surprise if in a year or 2, Allmendinger replaces Castroneves at Penske Indycar...
 
I remember Allmendiger's first win at Road America, and his obnoxious remarks re Bourdais.

Yeah,
I didn't like Allmendinger for leaving CART. That being said, both he and Scott Speed have probably ate the most "humble pie" since moving to NASCAR. Then comes Montoya.

I think Hornish Jr. & Franchitti just really didn't understand what they were getting into.....
