I Wish I Had

Nice but I would be wary of any old reel to reel these days as getting them aligned will be difficult as the skills are disappearing fast. Tapes are also ridiculously expensive now.

I used to run a Fostex E16 on an almost daily basis and also ran a Tascam 16 track which was later replaced with a Tascam 24 track on 1" tape. Happy days!

wish i could help!
where do you get the tapes nowadays anyway?
i have a friend here that just uses pc's
and no tape
used to love 4 track still have tapes for that

When I was a kid, my dad had some friends that had these. One said the sound was like none other..

Ickie,

Have you thought about the program called 'Garage Band'? It comes with an iMac computer. Alot of bands use it now days. It is said to have some amazing capabilities for people that make their own music or edit it.

Just a humble thought.

Bee's knee's... grab that and don't look back..!!!:applause:

I was just looking at my old 4 track the other day, I am planning to connect it back up and convert all my old tapes to CD. I was quite the Audiophile when I was in my 20's and although I can't enjoy music much any longer I still have a huge collection of vinyl and 7" reels, the wife will enjoy it and so will my kids so that will be my winter project. I sure hope the old 4 track works, it was such a nice machine to operate and for tape it had some great sound.

I wonder how long it will take me to digitize 3000 LP's and several hundred reels, plus I need to find something to use as a source to convert the 78 RPM disks, those are getting rare and the old Victrola is getting hard to find needles for...
