According to posts on other websites -
Ian Thatcher, (Thatch), died on Saturday 28/08/2010.

Ian was the founder of FS-Shipyards, and a former supporter of both The ODG Project and FREEflow.

Ian Thatcher was an extremely prolific developer of flight-sim content,
across nearly all aspects of the platform.

To such an extent that most simmers who download,
possibly have at least one of his products installed,
yet are unaware, as he'd published them under a series of assumed identities.
e.g.
As Gerrish Gray - Various tree enhancement packages
As Andy Weir - Various terrain-meshes and landclass packages.

Over the years Ian has supplied hosting to many developers and groups,
providing an incubator environment for their projects,
and often doing so out of his own pocket.

I am, and always will be, extremely appreciative
of all the assistance Ian so generously provided -
- To me personally, specifically in configuring, hosting and supporting fs-odg.com
- In configuring, hosting and supporting all the fs-groups domains
- And for all his contributions and advice.

Our condolences to his wife Tracey, and his family.
Ian will be greatly missed.

RIP, Gerrish aka Andy aka Ian!

Your trees for FS8 and 9 were a truly life-changing add-on! :salute:

Wow! What a shame. I had no idea he was Gerrish gray! I used thousands of his trees in my sceneries. RIP, buddy. You are an FS icon!

Same here while I'm a FSimmer since the days of FS5.1...... well I never knew that, neither he was Andy Weir as well...
A true FS icon I agree..... for him : salut! :salute:

Cheers

He will be sadly missed. Ian gave us some great scenery for GW3 as well as many other add-ons that enhanced our hobby.

We worked together on bringing more ships to FS9 and FSX from time to time and during that time I did not know he was also Gerrish Gray.

Very sad day... may he rest in peace.:frown:

Thanks for everything Ian...your legacy here in the FS community will live on. :salute:

What a huge loss to the flightsim community . His trees and other files were in the "Must Have" of tons of scenery over the years .

RIP Ian :salute:

My condolences to family and friends, there's not a man among us who hasn't used the Gerrish trees at one time or another.
