Ie8 & fsx ?

Dangerous Beans

SOH-CM-2022
I went to Windows update today as I havnt updated in a few weeks and noticed that IE8 is now listed as a High-Priority update for XP.

As FSX uses IE for things like the kneeboard I just wanted to check there was no issues with it before installing.

no problems with IE8 here. i run it on vista, but dont expect dfferences on XP.

kind reagrds,

Meso

IE8 increased their "bloatware" and I found it's needless influence on what sites I looked at to be bloody inconveneient. Now a lot of people don't mind it. I find it to be an intrusion and against Roosevelt's Four Freedoms.
I took it off.

HD, I just got off the phone with MS and they said they fixed only your IE8 to be loaded with virus's,malware, trojans and bloatware. They only offer this to extra special people...you musta been one of the lucky ones :monkies:

No problems here either. Not one.
Same goes for 64 bit ie8

OK thanks guys going to install now.
Im a Brit so I guess Roosevelt's four freedoms dont apply to me, the only freedom I have is the freedom to be taxed until I bleed :D

Got it, never use it. It came with one of my MS critical updates. I use Firefox and Chrome, don't care for IE; too confusing, opens new windows in lieu of tabs, Favorites are hard to find, back to the drawing board MS.

At the risk of stating the obvious, it doesn't make any difference in this case what browser you use, it matters what browser your applications use in the background. I don't know of a way to tell FSX to use Firefox rather than IE to display the kneeboard. I'm glad it's apparently not an issue. There was some discussion about that right after IE8 came out. The same is true for HP's PC software. IE8 is getting forced out before HP releases a compatible version of their software. I may use that for an excuse to get a new printer.

The FSX kneeboard isn't based on IE anymore. Two major indicators for this is the loading speed (way faster than in IE) and the lacking ability to access the internet from it.

I'm using Firefox Portable Edition - because it doesn't come with an installer. :d
