iGoogle will die... any ideas?

Every day, when I get in front of the PC monitor, the starting page I go to is iGoogle. This is where I get the latest news, the weather forecast, even the latest threads at SOH.

But all that is to ceased on 1st of October.

Right now, I'm testing 4 "replacements". I won't tell you which one as I want to know your pick, and the reasons behind your choice(s), without influencing your own decision.

You can even tell me that you don't like iGoogle and why you prefer... you know the drill...:kilroy:

Arrgh...
I'm mostly irritated that our new work Lenovos continue to arrive with i(diot)Google as the default homepage with the first message being that the service is going away. It is okay, I set up a custom homepage or deux, never really used them though.

I'm more irritated that my Verizon Samsung Galaxy tablet (which I use for my early morning updates on what happened last night whilst in the can) had a useful news homepage up until last week when they switched it to some AOL/TMZ/Entertainment Tonight type crap.
And I could read the old setup without glasses.
Damn kids driving the market...:sheep: (reminded me of Shaun the Sheep, had to try it)

I've got bookmarked news and weather sites that I hit constantly so I'll not miss it really.
I am interested in seeing other input though, always interested in alternatives that I'm not aware of, so thanks for posting the topic.

I use iGoogle as my Home Page too, but have not thought about a replacement yet. I guess I'd think either FlightAware or A.net.

HomePage

I got AOL just for the news stories, although I do use the email and AIM. Here is pic.

My homepage is a blank screen. I can go wherever I want to from there without getting sidetracked by stuff I don't want to see.

Only Google I Permit is Google Earth. Too much miners and junk..My desk Screen is Yahoo..great Stuff .With Firefox Blockers no Pop Ups or annoying junk..Clean,and Safe!

Drats, this Google thing is news to me. Change for changes sake, I HATE that. I'll go blank page too I think, I wonder how long that'll be permitted by out Internet overlords.

I use Facebook's newsfeed page. This allows you to pick and choose which organizations are sending you their newsfeed without any junk mixed in.

I've done the "blank screen" routine for years. I'll choose where and when I'll visit thank you very much! :icon_lol:

mmm...
I think we're getting a bit side-tracked here. And I'm probably responsible for it.

So, just to be clear; I'm not asking what is your home page. What I want to know is really how you get get your news "fix". For those who don't have the faintest idea of WTH iGoogle is - and soon "was" - here is a screen capture (not my page btw...);

I hope this will steer the debate where I intended it to go.

P.S.- I also want to apologize to Crusader who already mentioned the subject HERE. This thread eluded me, and SOH search engine as well, until I posted this one.

LOL do you really think Yahoo doesn't collect data about what you search and such?

Google Chrome is the browser of choice among most of my IT department, myself included. It is fast, comparatively lightweight, secure, stable, and seems to adhere to web standards better than FF or IE.

I use Google News as my news aggregate. You can personalize which sources and which types of news show up more often. I've not come across anything I've liked better. I really like a lot of what Google has been doing lately, both on the web and hardware side.
