Well its been a long time since i have posted here so i guess you could say im back for now but with a question.....How can i improve performance in IL2 but not sacrifice a whole lot of graphics. I have a NIVIDA 7300 GT with 512mb of ram and 1gb of memory card ram. So far ive been tryong to get sharpness in the graphics but my game lags a whole ton when i have 4x anti-alising so can some one give suggestions????

Sorry, but the 7300 series cards were not really designed for games and sims. One of my squadmates had one and ended up running the sim with low settings just make it playable. You can upgrade to a 7800GT or GTX or a 7950GT and get much better performance, make sure you get cards with 512MB of video RAM. A 8800GT really makes this sim scream, but you also need a good CPU and system RAM.

What CPU are you using and I assume you meant that you have 1GB of system RAM?

I have a AGP connector for graphics cards and a 64 bit cpu...
so whats the max graphics card?? :redf:

AGP is now very limited, 7800GS and 7900GS were the last Nvidia cards made for the AGP slot. 64 bit CPU doesn't tell me much, what make, model, and speed is the CPU?

That tells me that the CPU is an AMD processor running at 2.3GHz, which should be enough for Il2. See if you can find a 7800GS or 7900GS for your computer and make sure your power supply has sufficient +12v amps to run the system.

what would you think the lowest price would be for it because i searched the web for the card and found some scary results ($300+!!!)

Hi,

A Nvidia 8600GT should be ok I run one of these on a 2.6 GHz computer - in the UK the price is about £40 - so about $65. Shouldn't affect your power supply on your motherboard. What OS system are you running? If you have XP home edition it should be ok. I had the Media edition and I had real problems :banghead:. I also use 2GB of memory and the game runs smoothly on the highest settings with an FPS of about 55 to 60.

Hope this helps.

the only problem with going to a card like that is that i dont want to by a new motherboard to fit its port and im guessing its a PCI express not an AGP
maybe if i save my money for a couple months.........

more trouble.... i have done a couple searchs for the 7800/7900 not only does nividia have no more of these cards im not sure about buying them from a website because it could be used and most of them are horribly over priced.

IS THERE ANY AGP BUS PORT COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS CARDS BETTER THEN A GEFORCE 7300GT!!!!!!
I DONT CARE IF I CANT GET A NIVIDA IS THERE ANY OTHER CARD THATS BETTER THEN A NIVIDA 7300GT IT CAN BE ANYTHING BUT IT NEEDS TO BE AGP PORT COMPATIBLE SUGGESTIONS PLZ!!!!!!!!

I'm not an ATI expert, but the 3850 would be a big step up from the Nv7300. Be aware that ATI card cannot go above the water=2 setting in the Il2 config file. Water=3 and 4 are Nvidia only features.

ooops, sorry didn't see you have AGP.

and one more thing would a NIVIDIA geforce 7600 be good?
because the ATI 3850 sapphire is a hacked card that is compatible with agp
theres nothing wrong with it but the drivers for the card wont be updated much.

The 7600 is better than the 7300, see if you can find a 7600GT for the AGP slot, that was the best of the 7600 cards.
