i cant believe this.....my new cat..Dori seems to be afraid of her own shadow, literally, not only that, but when i first got her,my mom brought home a new collar for her with a small bell on it,well she bolted to the closet, one cool thing is,she can open a huge glass mirrored closet door to go hide, but after i got home for dinner i went to check on her and she was on my bed in near convulsions, she was shaking so bad the bed was moving and its one of those 12 inch superduper foam things,it doesnt even move under my enormous backside... so i removed the collar thinking she had been too hot as my AC wasnt working that day and it was 106F outside with a RH of 9%,the inside temp, door open, fans all on ect..was a cool 95F..then my folks, about a week later bought her a new climbing toy like thing,i put it all together and on two corners,it had two little bars with big plastic balls hanging from string with bells inside, she sniffed a bit,,slapped a ball and the bell chirped and she bolted to the closet for TWO days...so today,my dad was in Walmart by himself ( have said my dad came be an ass sometimes,,yet he does this kind of stuff) and he decided the new cat was in need of a new toy...so he brings home a squeak'n'play toy..its a long rod, with a rope like string and on the end is a little mouse filled with catnip and a electronic thing that makes a mouse like squeak....

Dori was cool with it until it...you guessed it...it SQUEAKED!!! and she flipped out...ran to the bedroom closet and almost took the door off its runner getting into the closet! so scared all the time...

i do have some cool stuff though...seems she saw her first squirrel today, she spotted it out the window, and kept looking at me and meowing..not to go out,,the door was open..but more like....dad?..what IS that thing??...was funny to watch her..and when the squirrel spotted her and began barking at her...she ran off...lol..

and the other night, she got up on the top of my recliners backrest,,stretched up on her hind legs and put her claws into the wood on top of the slideout, and then did a pull up and swung like she was on monkey bars in grade school,,i tried to grab my camera but when she heard me,she dropped off and i missed the shot!...

Good looking cat, Daveroo!

Mine has a half mustache on her upper lip like yours; gives her a lot of character!

:wiggle:

Pretty cat! When my Dad got the cat he has now she was really high strung and did a lot of the things you are talking about, she will come around as she gets more comfortable in her surroundings.. That was 5 years ago, but to this day though the only lap my dads cat will lay on is his and try to pick her up.. She screams bloody murder!

My cat was the same way......
Its the noise with her....It took a while for her to adjust to the surroundings, and once she did.....she took over everything in the house....Including the computer:icon_lol:

Daveroo,
When we bought our house and moved in from Navy housing our old cat Frostie assumed a very dysfunctional-looking crouched position on the floor in the family room and basically stayed there for almost five days. He didn't eat/drink and I don't even recall him using the litter box, but if he did he went right back to his spot on the floor. Our vet said it was "house shock" and to just give him time and he'd come around, and he did. I'm sure Dori is experiencing the same thing but acting out differently. Be patient and she'll settle down. :salute:

well like i say..shes been pretty ok ,after the first week, until we try to introduce something new,but i have an update on this squeaky mouse toy,she literally hid under the covers of my bed from around 2pm until 9 pm last night when i went to bed...at that point she had met me in the livingroom and was looking at the mouse thing....around midnight,i woke to an odd sound,i clicked on the light and there was Dori with the mouse part of the toy in her mouth, the 2 foot long rope dragging off it,and the 30" "stick" part hung up on the edge of the bed,she was bringing it to bed with her....me?....i helped her get it up on the the bed and she curled up next to my chest with the little mouse in her paws..was cute n cuddly until she would make the danged thing squeak!!!

when i woke this morning.....the mouse and stick is on the floor the otherside of the bed,and her feather toy got broken again after dad retied it last night...

shes been at my open door for about 20 minutes now..without a peep about going outside..i decided id take a pic of her sitting there with her face up to the screen door..soon as she saw the camera she ran off....

It does take time for a cat to adjust to change, in my experience with felines is they hate change..
Give him a few weeks and he should settle down..
Good looking kitty..
Well done Dave..
