If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Imageshack changes to a paid hosting service

A couple days ago while trying to log in at Imageshack, I noticed the page presentation had changed with a new look. There was an announcement of a "Try it" for 30 days. After this a paid subscription is needed to continue using the account. Another Microsoft move in capitol gain to control more of the internet and social networking is my guess.

Due to this, my account and all images have been deleted.
I apologize if my forum posts now seem pointless without their relevant image files attached.

Blame it on hot spots, (nothing is free) Our cost have risin' 20% this coming year for our server's and bandwidth, files are now bigger and everyone has a smart phone.
I recently changed internet service and they offered me for free a network wifi modem so they can have free hot spots, what I have found is sometimes my internet is so slow I cannot even open a page, lol I simply turn off the modem and it resets after 30 seconds I get back on the internet and now my speed is back.
I predict this year we will all see changes in how it all will work. , and it will cost us all $$. The billionaire's will get even more richer. My monthly went up by $5.00 but my lot rent went up by $10.00, it just isn't fair.

Pictures, they use to have to be 72 DPI to work on the internet, now days all the smart phones take whoppers and the people have no clue how to make them 72 DPI so the internet upped the scales, all this took up more space and bandwidth, a lot more space. :dizzy: someone has to pay the grim reaper :engel016:.

Technology is above us all whether we choose to accept it or not.

Concerning your modem; Do you have the internal options to turn off the hot spot settings? Kill it!!

I have felt the load too, lol that's why I refuse to bow down to the FB & TW's apts, I hate it when someone is getting rich off from me. I hate it to view a page on the internet and it has 15 ad's running and popups which I have turned off but they still are there.

If it wasn't for SOH I'd turn off the internet.

Take care of the pop-up problem with Firefox (maybe for other browsers also) along with an add-on called "noscript"
You have the option to allow what you want to view. Very handy!!
Along with another add-on called "Image Block 1.0.1" You have the options to right click the offending image, and pop it. No more viewing.

Thanks for the heads up. It took some time and use of Chrome but I was able to get on and save my pics. Sucks to see it go. I've had an Imageshack accout longer than I have my SOH account. Now I will need to go looking for a new place...

I deleted everything due to having things in back-up. As a back-up host I'm using my PhotoBucket account. I've had that for at least 5 years. It works, but I never cared for it. So if you find a good host give us a heads up.

I now use Microsoft's SkyDrive to store and link images and files. Here's a link to FSDeveloper and a post on this:

Here's an image from SkyDrive:

It requires a Windows Live! account to store files and images ( apologies to the paranoid among us ). I believe you get 7GB of free and stable storage. Enough for most of us.

Previously, Microsoft didn't allow direct linking to files, but they have now conveniently left open a back door for us. :)

I use Skydrive frequently to pull links to complete folders for viewing. The individual image links I've not tried. Yet!

Thanks.

I'm going to give www.imgur.com a try.

It says "As long as images are getting at least 1 view every 6 months, they will stick around forever. After that, your image may be removed to create more space for newer images."
