Improved ground textures

Can you advise on this subject? I bought REX4 HD textures and soft clouds and I am looking for some better land textures.

A subject which interests me as well. Question: I get a lot of different answers on this but does FTX use any more VAS than stock ground textures/objects?

I was a hold out on the ORBX/FTX World textures product for a really long time (due to the cost, and also thinking I wasn't too displeased with the default FSX scenery textures anyway), but ever since the first time loading it up in the sim, I'll never be able to go without it again. I continue to be impressed time and time again with the quality, realism and immersion that the product textures provide.

I've had 'em all Cees and FTX beats everything hands down for me...I'd even put those ground textures up against X-Plane 10.4 HD textures without a second thought.

I actually found Global was BETTER on performance than standard fsx textures and autogen... better performance, smoother blending with m-tiles and and better quality.

Long time GEX+UTX fan here. After trying ORBX Global+OpenLC Europe+Global Vector, I believe there is no better depiction of overall Europe around, and it performs great.

I don't doubt the word of Firekitten or anyone else who's posted here re: this product - but only one person has posted a review of this product on FTX's website and they're complaining about practically no difference between stock scenery and the FTX scenery in the locations they fly. Unfortunately this reviewer never stated where he flies. Could he have missed a step during installation?

I'm asking because I'm considering this scenery add-on for my own copy of FSX but given its cost I'd like to glean as much info on it as I can before committing to purchasing it.

Such steps could be easily missed. It's the same with REX4, you'll have to be precise and make choices and install these.

I wonder if the FTX Global is really area sensitive or does it just make the world look like FTX world. With regions it kind of looks the same in Alaska and in England or Australia.

FTX Global looks very interesting, textures are the same size as stock FSX, so that helps to explain its good performance. Almost $100 AUD? That's about $71 USD and I have more important things grabbing my money these days. Maybe if it goes on sale... and most of my flying is in Florida and the Bahamas, wonder how it looks there? FSX has deciduous trees throughout Florida and the Bahamas and FSX has turned them into various shades of red, yellow and brown.
