in Brazil in 1941, but not Brazilian

You've got to redo the textures

some WIP shots of a civilian SM79 in new threads ...

It should be LINEE ATLANTICHE!!!!!!!!!! (Atlantic LInes)... you are missing a critical "T"
sensa questa T... non significa un cavolo! Without that T... it has no meaning in Italian...
believe me... I lived in Italy since I retired in 1984 till 2000... and speak Italian fluently...
even taught it...

Gaucho, thanks for the spellcheck.

No need to redo, as I stated they are WIP :redf:

The grainy b/w photos seem to show LINEE ATLANTISCHE - would this make sense?

I think it should be "LINEE ATLANTICHE", without the "S", "atlantic lines" in Italian.

Will this paint be vor MVG's SM79?

mmm maybe

Atlantische... would be Atlantic in German... (I also speak German:wiggle:) Like in Atlantische Ozean (Atlantic Ocean)...
However, I would be hard put to make sense of it since the aircraft is Italian.... Nonetheless... it could be possible...
actually... regardless of how grainy... you can probably count the number of letters... if it is 10... it is Atlantiche... if it is 11
well... GOK (God only knows)... :mixedsmi::wiggle::wiggle::wavey:

Well, on further thought... IT HAS TO BE ATLANTICHE... because in German... lines is LINIE

Thanks for the advice guys. I will go for the "ATLANTICHE" spelling.

It's only in the supporting text that it mentions the german spelling, the photos, though blurried & pixelated suggest the italian spelling, now that I've been educated!:salute:

This is a repaint for F Guili's SM79 civile converted to fly in CFS 2.

I will try to get permission to upload the conversion, but it will need some serious panel/ gauge work.

what year was the photo taken?

we do know that Germany had contact with Argentina during WWII. just throwing it out there. though an Italian marked plane with German writing would be odd.

Date isn't referenced, but the paint job is wartime livery & the place is referenced as Rio. LATI kept flying from West Africa to Brazil until December '41, when any a/c were seized by the Brazilian government as they declared for the Allies.

But not before some a/c losses, & formal protests that these civilian flights were aiding blockade runners & subs in the Atlantic ...

This particular a/c was seized, & later flew for the Brazilian Air Force until grounded through lack of spares during 1943.

A beautiful repaint! But to add a bit more to the confusion.... I think the line should read either: ALA LITTORIA S.A. LINEE AREE TRANSCONTINENTALI ITALIANE (which stands for LATI) or ALA LITTORIA S.A. LINEE ATLANTICHE

See picture below :icon_lol:

Or of course.....

Isn't it easier to pic one of the racers :jump:. Nevertheless your repaint is something to look forward to!

I have seen the "stretched" texture lay-out. It is already quite an achievement you got this far :applause: When I could persuade you to do a racer as well......

Cheers,
Huub

Huub,

I cheated (of course:p:). I just changed the bitmap size for the fuselage (1024 x 512 instead of 1024 x 256). That way it's easier to work with the text ...

Although my primary interest is a neglected "what if" from the pre-US involvement in WW2, if you steer me to what you need, I will try to oblige. These days I tend to upload textures as 565 bmps, I think I'm right is assuming these will also show in FS9?

Manuele Villa is the man you need

:salute:

Check out the repaint with Manuele Villa, the ALA LITTORIA repaints specialist, and a friend of mine, who is Italian and lives in Athens, Greece,
He has many fs9 repaints of the company's aircraft and will solve the riddles. His skins include his email.

This is unrelated but....

I posted a question about the Harvard pilot not showing up in FS9...but I guess you did not see it... i.e. is there any way to make him show up...
I see the texture for the pilot amongst the textures... maybe some change can be made in the config. file...
At any rate... the Harvard is really a great model :applause::applause::applause:
and I am "accurizing" the textures so I would like the have the pilot show.... Anyone with suggestions... please PM me or add to the Harvard posting by UncleTgt
Much obliged:salute::mixedsmi:

Huub,

Rough WIP of the "racer" paint in CFS 2 - I think it needs a model without any windows to really look the part...

Thank for your efforts! I like it, but I agree the model would look better without the windows. Based on the profiles and pictures of these racers I think the letters of the registration should be white outlined.

I was already thinking to ask Mr F. Giuli whether he is willing to make the model without windows.

Cheers,
Huub
