I think we just saw an example of an slow/fast in lap.

Running ahead of Franchitti, Rahal peels off to head to pit lane. The more experienced Franchitti peels off a split second later to pit at the same time as Rahal.

Franchitti was going much faster than Rahal headed towards pit lane & he had to lock the breaks & head back up the track to avoid the slower Rahal. Franchitti's resultant impact with the wall was rooted in Rahal's slower in-lap speed.

I like how the TV coverage showed the in lap & out lap speeds to we, the viewers so you could compare driver speeds...:)
