I had a ride on a Viscount back in 1969, between Wellington and Dunedin ( from North to South Islands of New Zealand )
I don't remember the sound but the windows were large and the view was great. (Except for noticing that the fairing between No2 engine and the wing had an 'interesting' vibration)
