Install New Cockpit in P-40 but lose Aircraft Textures

There are other Threads written about this but I usually mess up anyway! I was explained this before but have a short memory.

I was wondering if Ndicki's writeup could solve the problem.

I assume you have installed a P-40 cockpit, but now find you are missing certain cockpit textures.

To fix this, I think, depends on which install you are using. If the cockpit is from an ETO P-40 and you are moving it to another install, look in the Aircraft/Shared folder and you will see ETO_Kittyhawk_shared folder. Then move it to the same file in the install. If from MAW, look for DR_Tomahawk_shared. If PTO, it's warhawks_shared.

At least I think that's the issue you are raising. Cleary you are missing some shared textures.

Hi guys

if you have taken the VC files out of one plane and placed them into another plane, then you will need to edit the cockpit.M3D file to call on the correct texture for the new plane. You use ahexeditor to open the cockpit model file and thenuse the search function to search for .DDS this will take you to the first texture file listed now scroll down to the texture that ends in _t.dds this usually the main aircraft texture. Change the file name tomatch the texture name in your aircraft texture folder. You may also have toedit the _S.dds file name as well.

Regards Rob

gotta learn how to use one of these things....any recommendations for a user-friendly hex editor?
