Installation Nightmare

Hi,

the installation so far is a nightmare. I installed CFS3, then CFS3.1 patch, then started CFS3, did a mission.
After that i installed OFF3, then OFF3 1.1 patch.
I started the game, assigned a pilot and choose quick mission.
So far no problem, then the screen WWI scenary initialisation appeared
and stayed for 15 minutes. I don't think it should take that long, so i cancelled the game.
I tried it several times with the same result.
Can somebody help please!!!!
 
Don't know if this will make a difference, but there is no need to install CSF3 beforehand. The OFF installer does all that for you automatically so why make it more complicated than it has to be. The instructions on the back of the DVD case are pretty simple...insert the DVD and run the program.

Also, I would fly OFF at least once to make sure it works, before piling the 1.1 patch on top. A one step at a time and check after each step kind-of-approach.

When oFF first ran, did you see CFS3Config run?

Anyway please go to Workshop, press the CFS3config button.
Wait a minute, then configure as per the FAQ (see FAQ at the top section )

Depending on your PC speed...
Please lower your sliders on terrain and scenery (try 2 , 2 for those first).

Scout, unless you have the CFS3 DVD or CD version that is already 3.1 you have to install CFS3 and patch it up to 3.1 before installing P3. At least AFAIK..

Yep Gary, that's correct, but the OFF3 installer checks your CSF3 discs and tells you this.

There is no need to second-guess the OFF install...it leads you through all the steps and adapt to various conditions. From what I have seen has been very carefully thought out to lead you through the process.

So I believe the first step can always be to just put in the OFF DVD and run it as the instructions tell you too.
 
I bought a couple copies of the 2 CD version re-distributed by "Xplosiv" and my assumption is they are 3.0 also, only the Ubisoft DVD is 3.1 (I think). I get your point though..
 
My two cents:

Before flying BHAH for the first time, I think everyone should click on the CFS3 config button to check the default settings to make sure there is nothing wonky in there. Better yet, look through the threads in order to configure your respective video card for the game.

The same thing happned to me (but the only nightmare was me not understandiung how the graphics worked at the time) ...it was the fact that I cranked the settings up on CFS3 and somehow the config sliders ended up at 5 in OFF.

So go to workshop and turn the sliders down and the screen will load just fine in a minute or so.

I tried the CFSconfig in the workshop and lowered the graphics settings and now everything works perfectly.

I have never seen such a great simulation!!!
