Installing and running FS9 on Windows 7 64 bit machines

Hi all,

I had FS9 installed and running on my laptop when I first got it. Now all of a sudden, it won't start or run at all. I installed in the normal Program Files (x86) folder. Any pointers to help get FS9 running successfully in W7 64 bit?

If it had been running this is most likely just one of those cases where the FS9.cfg file needs to be rebuild. That is unless you installed something new just before it quit working.
The main problem with W7 as noted in many other posts is the UAC or user account control which makes getting to certain files tougher than XP.

If you do have to re-install however I would advise against the default installation path.

IF you have to do a reinstall, instead of allowing FS9 to install to the default location, direct it to install in a folder you make....C:\FS9 is a good choice. It is easy to remember and it outside of the UAC dominated Program's folders.

Also, rename your older FS9 folder so the installer cannot find it, and then install a new installation, then import over your planes and scenery.
