Installing FSX Acc in Windows 11

mrogers

SOH-CM-2025
Hi, it's been a long time since I last posted here.
I've bought a new PC tower and it has windows 11. It's still in it's box at the moment until I have the time to set it up. What I would like to do is to install FSX/Acc in it and move all my stuff to it via an external drive. My FSX/Acc is on the same external drive as well. I'm aware that I might have to start with a new install and go from there. and transfer the old fsx/acc to the new FSX/Acc. Some installs within FSX would have to be renewed or redownloaded as well.
I'd like any advice/tips to help make FSX run on the new PC's Window 11, and also find the neccessary things to fix any possible issues that might come up during the install.
Like Windows 10 on my current PC I had to fix some things while installing FSX, like the registration issue, etc.

My new PC specs are
14th-generation Intel Core i7-14700 processor capable of up to 5.4GHz
32GB DDR5-5200 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB
1TB SSD and a 1TB HDD

All packed in a small case tower with fans for excellent cooling, runs really quiet, fast and nice according to reviews of this off the shelf PC. Also should be able to run FS2020 or 24 on it too in future.
Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend saving yourself a load of headaches and just get FSXSE from Steam. It's cheap and has all the updates included up unitl MS stopped Support.

Can FSX/Acc stuff run in FSXSE?
Absolutely! I used to use FSX Acceleration, then when that computer was replaced, I went to FSX: Steam Edition. The biggest issue I had with the Steam Edition is that it, unlike boxed versions of FSX, did not have a SDK (Software Developer Kit), which was required for modifying or making airports. This is only an issue if you modify or make your own airports and although I found it to be a little bit of a mental challenge, the SDK for PrePar3D v1.3 can be installed.

I have no problems installing FSX Deluxe with SP1 and SP22 (sp1 and sp2 is same as FSX ACCELARATION) but Windows 11 does not like gauges from FS2004 being used in FSX so I was forced to change from FS2004 gauges and FS2004 cockpit panels to FSX compatible gauges and panels in freeware planes.

It is very strange that FS2004 gauges and FS2004 cockpit panels run well in FSX using Windows 7 but will NOT run using FSX in Windows 10 or 11 even though all kinds of settings are PRECISELY same in FSX using Windows 7 pc and in FSX using Windows 10 or 11 pc!!

Regards,

Aharon

That all sounds good. Thanks for your advice and comments, it's appreciated!
Aharon, yes, in the early days of FSX in windows 10 I came across the gauge issue, I had to change out them on a very small number of aircraft, one or two aircraft, but I moved up to FSX native aircraft fairly quickly.
Any more advice or tips please?
