OFF has not auto installed----- try manually installing in the workshop.
Has anyone experienced problems like this in a VISTA 32 installation? I would like to try to eliminate any problems before having to do a full reinstall if it is possible, many thangs .Davebee.

Phase 2, by it's very name,( work in progress ) not all skins, or aircraft for that matter exist. If the Computer looks for Something that doesn't exist, it has an error.

However, the Error might be something that demands your attention
( but I doubt it )

There is a way to make all the errors, disappear forever, to Clic OFF, Warnings in Workshop

Problem being it eliminates ALL Warnings

If something major goes wrong, you'll Never Know it

But you have it on disc, so how bad could it be ? :kilroy:

That 429 Error is troubling

Did you Fly CFS3 ONCE, Prior to installing

Are Display Fonts at 96 DPI

Computer MUST think in English, in USA, UK, South Africa

Does not need to, runs fine on German Windows XP also.

Correct .. It will run fine in Quick Combat, but try to fly in Campaign . . NO GO.

Reason being a slight difference in Punctuation.

That's a FACT in OZ, Germany, . . Got Me :kilroy:

As a matter of fact, I did run CFS 3.1 before installing OFF but I notice that the 3 folders in Documents, campaigns, missions and quick combat seem to be empty, should that be right?

Have not heard of that error before.

Did you try a manual install as the installer suggested?

If you did and it didn't help, then you may be in for a full reinstall.

IF infact you choose the drastic action. There in NO uninstall option. You'd need to delete 2 massive folders. Find every reference to OFF and delete.

Then Search to contain your hidden Files and Folders. 2 always show up

Failure to Delete THOSE, any problem can come back repeatedly

I'm treading on thin Ice, these methods are proven on XP

Vista . . Got me

Those 3 Folders in your documents, should be EMPTY, mine are

Hi, GimpyGuy Got Ph2 from "Typhoon", Kanada and installed it on PC with Win XP. Did you mean, that nothing else but "Quick combat" will work? Cause I have that problem. Plane explodes right at start of a mission; pilot "dies", when closing game (due to an "unlimitedpilots.xml" problem, it says). Would it help to get a new "healthy" file of that xml ? Or must I wait (and chew down my finger nails) 'till Ph3 appears? And will that work better then? (Questions over questions.. sorry; but it was such a great feeling flying my Pfalz D3...)

Hello Olham54,

don't think it is that problem - had my german PC with german CFS3 disks set to US settings all the way, and the plane still exploded. Problem is at one point (it may happen or not) when your plane explodes in campaign, it keeps happening again and again. Time advance does not cure it, creating a new pilot flying for another nation does not cure it either - start a campaign and as soon as you are at the aerodrome the plane explodes.
Only solution is to re-install. In fact this is one of the problems that bother me most. CFS3 itself is somehow unstable, and sometimes just seems to "eat itself up" after some time.

What do you mean with an "unlimitedpilots.xml" problem ? Are you probably up to something that might cure this ?

@ Davebee: Did you try to initialize OFF/CFS3 in the workshop ? There is a button "Initialize" that manually installs the files.

Greetings,
Catfish

Hi Catfish, The trouble is that I cannot get anything to work beyond the oening title page with the music and the error messages which I have posted....It makes me wonder whether I will need to resort to an uninstall/reinstall.

Hi, Catfish! Whe I fly a mission, my pilot is said to be dead, afterwards in the list. His pic is crossed out; sometimes a pop up appears, saying, the file "unlimitedpilots.xml" wouldn't exist or might be corrupted. Well, I found it, it's there, but might it be "broken"? Could anyone, who's game runs properly, mail me that file? I'd report then, if it works. Greetings so far (everybody hold out-Polovski and friends are sure at it any spare minute to release us from our suffering, giving us Phase 3). Olham

Hello,

@Davebee - i fear a de-installation and the re-install will be the only possibility - did you get any warning during the install ? But then i have no idea about an OFF-Vista install, sorry.

at Olham84 - i'd need your eMail for sending the file .. do you need the OFF "unlimitedpilots.xml" file, or the one that is stored in the CFS3 folder ?

Greetings,
Catfish

You could try getting rid some pilots as any more than 12 give OFF fits.

Verify your Display fonts at 96 size

Honestly... I can't troubleshoot the effects of a German System

When you reinstall set the off installer to run as admin (right click properties).

Also make OFF manager run as Admin and try setting to run in xp compatibility mode. Again right click on it, properties, go to compatibility.

Hi all,

Polovski, I know how loaded you are with P3 roll out right now but I just happened to have similar problems on my new Vista 32 rig. CFS3 installed and run with no issues. I have UAC turned off and run the OFF installer as admin. Language and number settings are in English. Setup goes well and I start OFF. I get the message: "Run-time error 429 ActiveX component can't create object". Despite that OFF manager starts and initialises. I create a pilot and try to enter QC or campaign. I then get the message: "Error setting up CFS3 files". Despite that CFS3 starts but I get the message "Mission file failed to load" and although I see the CFS3 menus the background is black. I can exit CFS3 and get back to the OFF manager but that is all.

If you can't help it's OK as I can wait for P3. I just wanted to test my new rig with P2.

Being logged in as admin in Vista is nothing at all to do with "running as admin".

(cool eh?)

Double check everything is set up on the properties tab (right click on the actual exe) to run as admin, and also on compatibility tab set to run in "Windows XP (Service pack 2)" mode,
Do this before you run it.

Works here for me and others.

P3 will do all this stuff for you, 'cos we are good like that ;)

Cheers
Pol

That's exactly what I'm doing. OFFManager.exe is set up to run in compatibility mode XP SP2 and I right click and run as admin. Still get the same AxtiveX message. Reinstalled trhee times and still no go. If there is no more clues I'll just wait for P3. It is strange that I installed on a friends Vista rig with no problems. Perhaps something in my system???

Thanks again!
