Intel I7 processors and FS9

I think its a better idea to let I7 mature more before investing in it. There will be faster more efficient CPU that will be released for it.

I just finished a i7 965 Extreme & made it 64bit which not sure if that was good move but I haven't install any games yet...Used Asus P6T Deluxe with 6gb Corsair DDR3 and a Noctua cooler. Seems to run quite lively with just mild OC to 3.6...

Hi Buddha

I can promise you, that you are in for a real treat:icon_lol:

Just got the I7 940 a week ago, and it goes beyond anything I have seen so far concerning flightsims.

When Fs9 is correctly tweaked, you won`t believe how well it look`s, and how smooth it is running.

And that is a stock fs9, without any goodies. They will be added later on.

I have tried to use the F-104 from captain sim, set up as AI aircraft.
I believe there were more than twenty of these Starfighter, flying soo smooth, looking soo good, and without a single hickup, frames consistantly above 30 fsp and very very smooth.
These are not Ai planes at all, but they look darn good:costumes:, and that is really how it should look, and I am still sitting here with a big grin on my face.

Even FSX is no problem for that baby.

Great news to hear Jen (since my gaming rig is now dead)

I've started saving for an i7 based system....

True,
But if he gets a good motherboard, he can always upgrade his CPU later...:mixedsmi:

i7's are all 1366 pin cpu's so even the cheapest 920 is faster than all but the 9770 quads and at 300.00 plenty cheap..most likely will oc to 3.6/3.8 on air. A Asus P6T Deluxe are right around 300.00 & same for memory unless you want 3Gb instaed of 6Gb. I used all my old parts except for the MB/Memory/CPU/ Cpu Cooler....

i7core920/940 both faster than the QX series Penryns and run FSX almost flawlessly on the Gigabyte X-58 and ASUS P6T. MSI motherboard did not do as well in the TechCorp testing but that was a Beta Board.

The E8600 still does a fine job in FSX when OC'd to 3.6GHz or better with FSX and 4GB of memory, if you are on a budget, but the i7 Core is good for an extra solid 6-10FPS. I still have not tested i965 Extreme but I am impressed with the new i920-940 so far. More processors coming in March. Don't be afraid of the X58 motherboards, as somebody did their homework before putting out a product this time.

Copy Jen...
I've got a 750w one marked in the price plan..(which is looking dangerous at the moment):isadizzy::icon_lol:

Hi all 1st off Merry Xmas and a happy New Year.

I'm running an AMD Phenom 2.1 Triple core with 2gb of DDR2 800mgz and the Nvidia 8600GTS 512mb. Whilst testing Transloads A10 Warthog around Grand Canyon X in FSX of course I was hitting around 120fps fluid. What more do you want :costumes:
But I must admit when I run REX, XPAX and FSC then I could do with about 4gb of ram minimum. Where as my Dad who just likes to browse the net and edit some photos has a liquid cooled Dual core 3.6 with the ATI X1900 1gb on a 22in HDMI monitor, lucky old git :icon_lol:

Ya'll are making me drool with your system talk. I got my first "power house" system just a few months ago, thanks to a very generous site member. He sent me an extra system he had laying around...his old gaming system. 3gig P4, 2 gig PC300 Ram, 160 gig HD, 512 meg Nvidia 7600GS video card, 2 DVD drives (one burner, one reader only), 8 USB 2 ports, 17 inch LCD panel. Gave it to me for free he did.

This system replaced the system I had...which was also given to me by another very generous site member. 1.8 gig Althon, 512 meg Ram, 80 gig HD.

System before that was a second hand system my wife got from her sister. 800 meg P3, 128 meg Ram, 20 gig HD.

The thought of what you guys are running now and wanting to upgrade to faster boggles my mind.

Hi all,
If you look at the top right of the screen.Just next to the screen you will see a customization button.Click on that and be amazed at the options they give you. There are 34 cases to choose from alone.
The mobo will probably be the MSI one but was thinking of the Asus P6T Delux. It s a bit dearer and I cannot spend much past £1,500.00/$2,250.00
Take a look here for the options,
