Interesting new MDL Tool and new xtomdl compiler

In case you have missed it, here'S MDLMagic, a tool which is being developed right now:

http://omega.uta.edu/~smi1644/MDLMagic.html

If you browse the website you'll also notice that the author has built a new xtomdl compiler, which is not as buggy as the old one in SDK, runs in 64bit and doesn't seem to have the dreaded 65k upper limit. It seems to compile real high poly models and even has a gui when invoked without parameters. Have not tried it myself yet though.

Cheers,
Mark

The 65K limit applies to texture vertices for one object in FSX, but above several hundred thousand vertices for the entire model, XtoMDL runs out of memory.

Others have tried this freeware 64-bit XtoMDL and built FSX models of more than 500K polys. Sean is a most obliging chap in making this available, just make sure you have all the components. :wiggle:
