I found an extensive chapter in a book on Japanese accounts of how the war affected japan, personal interviews carried out over 10 years by a Japanese lady and her American Husband both of whom are distinguished historians. this pilot told his story very directly ..and very fluently. it was fascniating to read. He said among other very interesting things that as he was a warrant officer and not a higher level officer rank, he was treated much worse in his own serivce than the upper men who knew far far less about flying and combat. He and the other warrant officers were the ones who trained the young pilots who joined up, many of whom had no other real training. It showed how broken the Japanese heiarchy system was in the miltary and also in the rest of society and how vulnerable it made them all to real external Challenges.
