• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

iPhone and iPad update just (just) released online

Hey all,

Just a heads up.

For those that have iPhones and iPads, a new software release 'just' came out. Its nearly 1AM. I think it was released about 12:45AM. I had just tried to update the iPad and when I tried the iPhone, it found an update. Now iPad has one also.

My iPad is still in the updating stage. iPhone is done and runs fine. Even has the same programs running in multi-task that were running before, Contacts are still in the memory. :d

EDIT: iPad now done, still in the 3.X.X series, doesnt have multi-tasking, etc. Mostly things like WiFi and other bug fixing.

Just in case you weren't aware, Apple has released new software update for iPhone and iPad. The iPhone 3G, 3GS and newly released iPhone 4 get iOS 4.0.1 update for better signal bar displays. The iPad (WiFi and WiFi+3G) gets iOS 3.2.1 update for fixing a number of issues. To install the update, you'll need to plug your iOS running device to Mac or PC with iTunes 9.2 installed in it.

The new iOS 4.0.1 update for iPhone and iOS 3.2.1 update for iPad comes just a day after iOS 4.1 beta was released to developers. While many continued to report about antennae issues in iPhone 4, the new iOS 4.0.1 firmware update brings cosmetic fix for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G. The support note states that the iOS 4.0.1 update "improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display".

On the other hand, the iPad versions get iOS 3.2.1 firmware update brings a number of fixes that include:


  • Improved WiFi connectivity
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent copy and paste of single-page PDF attachments in Mail
  • Addressed an issue that could cause video playback to freeze
  • Improved reliability of video-out when using iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter
  • Added Bing as an option for Safari's search field

A notable feature here is Microsoft's Bing search engine being added as an option in Safari's search field.
