Anyone using this airplane in P3D that can answer a question? I just reinstalled after years of not having it installed. The airplane sits on the runway at full rpm and won't budge. Yes the parking brake is off. If I slew up to about 2000ft and release, it will fly all day, maintain airspeed and land, as soon as it stops, it's stuck in that position. . .

Anyone ever seen this in this or any other airplane? The jet version is fine by the way. Also, when the airplane was originally released it was discovered that the autopilot section had been left in by mistake. We asked David to leave it in and just tune it a bit because it refused to hold a heading. He said he couldn't do anything with it and it was dropped. Some time later someone corrected the problem and I would like to get that corrected as well if anyone knows what it was.

I have submitted a support request, but honestly don't expect it to be answered. As much as I like David, IRIS customer support has always been terrible.

I have the same problem with the Aerosoft DA20 Katana! Exactly the same! I installed it with the migration tool as there is no P3D option in the installer (old one). Asked about it at Aerosoft and the answer was that P3D v2 is not supported for the Katana... Sometimes it works however, not really found out what makes it work, as it is a rare occasion.

I have the Iris BD5 jet so I may try it.

Actually, and I should have been specific with this, it's the prop version that is stuck. . .the jet works fine.

Yes I also noticed something wrong with that plane, althout on my side it looked like a problem with contact points or something like that.
I don't remember if the problem occured for the jet or the piston one...
All was fine in FSX, too...

I was surprised that I had any troubles at all aside from the autopilot problem that was discussed in detail when the airplane was first released. There was an updated version released some time after (Ver. 1.1 or 1.2 ?) however I apparently purchased it through IRIS and after them having redone their website for the umpteenth time and everyone having to re-register I failed to do that so now I can't even retrieve any of my old information. Trying to contact them (which I already have tried to do) is an exercise in futility so I don't expect I'll get anywhere with this.

Hi Dimus,
I have the Katana running perfectly well in P3D v2.5 despite what Aerosoft says about it not working, but I did install it into FSX and copied it across into P3D.folder (always keep a copy of FSX installed so that I can copy files across to P3D)
It's important to copy the "Diamond DA-20-100 Katana 4X"folder which is found in the Aerosoft folder in your sim and the 4X_DA20-100.mcro file which is in the Modules folder (without it some of your controls won't work) as well as Gauges, Effects and Sounds of course. I think you'll now find the aircraft run's perfectly.

Thanks Ian! I'll go check all the files you mentioned. I initially tried copying it from FSX, faced the "sticky" problem. Then I installed using the migrator and the problem was still there. I happen to still be on 2.4 as I am about to upgrade my rig and reinstall windows so I do not want to go through reinstalling P3D twice.

Still nothing from IRIS, sent a second Support Request. . .what little good that will do. I was able to fix the "unable to move" problem by adjusting the "toe_brake_scale="setting from 1.000 to 0.900. Seems like a minor change, but it was enough to get it to roll again.

The AP remains out of control and unusable. Another thing I noticed is the RPM/Redline/Speed/throttle correlation. I won't go into great detail about how I'm not a "by the book" sort of simmer, I fly the way I want to. I noticed at full throttle (we're only talking about the "G-model") the RPM's redline (no surprise there), in backing it off however I found that in order to even get it to "max rpm" which is 2700, the throttle setting is no more than 20%/Airspeed approx 100mph at 2000', which puts it just a bit above a Piper Cub.

Apparently no one flies this airplane in P3D based on the lack of posts. . .maybe I've also discovered why.

Just for my own info here. Found an article from when the original BD-5G model was produced and test flown at Jim Bede's facility in Newton, Kansas. The Hirth engine was rated at 6500rpm at 75% power. . .giving the BD5 a cruise of around 210mph. Pam (Warchild) was also able to shed some light on the BD5 as she did the FDE for it, and so based on all the info I've picked up I'm not concerned at all about the 3500rpm. I have noticed that in reducing the power to bring the rpm's down, it does take some movement of the throttle setting before I see any response from the rpm gauge. . .likely the plane is running at higher rpm's than the gauge is able to show.

I'm leaving that behind now and I'll just see what I can do to get the AP to work. . .ha ha.
