IRIS F-14 mini-review

This thread isn't worth the electrons used to read it, I'm afraid.!
Why do you keep coming back then? I can't give you electrons. If you went to some website for electrons and started a thread about how you wasted electrons, someone like yourself would only argue that you hadn't wasted electrons. Then they'd tell you your thread was a waste, but they'd keep coming back to stir the pot after it calmed down. THEN; it'd calm down so much that old friends would meet back up in it and the contrary guy would STILL show up.

I'm not angry.
According to my old gym coach, he wasn't either when he screamed with a beat red face: "I'M NOT ANGRY!! YOU'LL KNOW WHEN I'M ANGRY!!"

Merely suggesting you might like to behave in a different way - especially considering you have based your "review" on an incomplete picture of what might well be totally the wrong aircraft!
Once again; it doesn't have to be a complete picture. When do you ever get a complete picture? Must you be a prior F-14 pilot/RIO/crew chief who's flown the IRIS model for three weeks straight? I only offered two points, and told why.

Oh shut up Dag :p

I have a couple of your repaints and they're :woot:

LOL.... did you get anyone to read you F-14 review Kevin? Send it to my hotmail if not (should be here somewhere... profile maybe).

Thanks

This reads like an AlphaSim thread.

VCN-1

Have to agree. This thread was almost on the verge of turning into a bit of IRIS bashing. I personally don't own the Tomcat but I do have the TC-6 and the PC-9 and find them both enjoyable to fly.

As with any payware product (that does not have a free trial, such as cloud9) it certainly pays to do a bit of research. Read the reviews and trawl the forums. If a product is well received and gets glowing reviews, then chances are you too will look favourably on your purchase. If however you go ahead and purchase a product that gets mixed or even negative comments then you really should'nt harp on about any faults in the model.

As for cost, I must admit that the IRIS F-14 does look a bit on the expensive side. However no one is actually forcing me to buy the thing. Developers can charge whatever they wish. People will always have a choice on how much they are willing to spend, and if they try they will usually be able find a better product for less money.

If indeed, as someone has already mentioned, you use the example of Aerosofts F-16 (which I do own) then admitedly the Tomcat does not look that great as deal. However if I wanted to fly a Tomcat in a simulator then I probably would make a purchase. After all it's not as if I'd have much choice. I can only think of this IRIS model and Kirk Olsons freeware (which is now a bit long in the tooth).

The guy (Dino?...can't remember his name as my mind is gone blank :kilroy: )who gave us the FSX native T-45 is working on a native FSX 'Cat too.

Thanks Dag, done :)

I'll be happy to have your thoughts on the textures, too. I thought that they were perhaps a little dodgy, but not enough to make any mention of really.

Sent PM and VF-1 Wolfpack 70% redone, not as good as Mr. Diaz but better I think. Possibly..:kilroy::Banane43:

Theres a bunch on avsim, some new, some for the fs9 model ( the fsx version uses the same uv map as fs9 ). Theres also some links on iris's forums of some pretty decent looking paints. glad your enjoying it :) ..

ok, just to help maybe make things less confusing. I placed a bunch of videos of the Iris planes i've worked on including the f-14 on my site ( http://jftc.jadeisland.org ) for your enjoyment. I admit, they arent technical, arent endorsed by david or karen, and some require one hell of a network connection, but they do show the planes general flight characteristics.
Hope you enjoy
Pam

Actually can you also include the smell of jet fuel as well, 'cos it just not real enough.

Well, that's simple enough. I just rub a little kerosene on my mustache and place a piece of duck with a mixture of sweat and machine oil in my filter mask (makes a neat oxygen mask sound). A small fan blowing completes the immersion. I can't believe anyone else has thought of that yet.

Just one word on the Kitty...suh-weet!

Ever get that feeling of deja vu? Is this the Alphasim forum again? It must be Groundhog Day. Yeah that's it.

Well this has been a wonderful and somewhat saddening read for me..

I do not own any Iris products,as I'm a GA flyer....

We all have opinions and reasons behind what we say...
