IRIS F-15 textures...help please!

James

I just downloaded the ex-payware IRIS F-15. All of its textures are .bmp files. Since FSX handles DDS better, what is the best type of DDS? DXT1, DXT3, or DXT5? Thanks

Won't he have to modify the model to recognize DDS instead of BMP extensions (hex edit the model file?) Or will FSX automatically use a DDS file when it can't find an appropriately named BMP file? Are there still extra disk searched performed when the texture isn't found with the correct extension?

(you'd think I'd know this by now, but I don't port over many things.)

I've been experimenting with port overs (BMP to DDS) and converting. I haven't had any issues with anything as of yet despite the voodoo of said model files. The aircraft are all flying with better frame rates
