Iris PC-9/A in P3Dv4

thefrog

SOH-CM-2022
This is one of my favourite aircraft and was very happy to find that I could use it in P3Dv4. I substituted Doug Dawson's dsd_p3d_xml_sound_x64 which enabled switch sounds.
The only thing that doesn't work is the throttle lever animation which does work in P3Dv3. The throttle function itself is ok so it's flyable.
Just wondering if anyone has any idea what could be causing this please?

Its not a 'Throttle axis' or 'Eng 1 Throttle axis' assignment thing by any chance? Seem to recall this causing issues on some other addons. And no, I don't have it installed..

Hi thefrog (ou bonjour ?)
To make it fly smoothly within P3Dv4 you need to upgrade the gauges as well as the sound with Dave Dowson"s dll.
Grab here the dsd_p3d_xml_config_x64 file and rename it "pc9dsdconfig" then go into your \SimObjects\Airplanes\IRIS PC9A\panel\ subfolder.
First delete the original pc9dsdconfig.gau file then copy your brand new pc9dsdconfig.dll file and you should be OK !
Let me know how it turns out...

Thanks to you both for your replies: yes, that's correct, you have to make sure which throttle axis you're using.

I did download and substitute the dsd_p3d_xml_config_x64 as you suggested Altack, but it hasn't made any difference unfortunately. Unless there's something else I have to do with it.
As I say, the throttle function is absolutely fine, as is everything else, it's just the animation of the throttle which is lacking, whether I use my external hardware or F1 and F4 etc. It's not a big deal obviously, but it would have been nice if it had worked like it does in P3Dv3.

As a matter of fact I just fully re-installed the PC-9A (v1.06.5) with both dsd sound and config DLLs just to be sure and...the throttle is not moving !

I installed the IRIS Pro Training Series PC-9A
I can start it, but the throttle does not work
What is most worrying is that the engine stalls when manoeuvring

Does anyone know a solution?

Definitely just sounds like an animation control isn't properly assigned for v4. I've had this happen between certain FSX and P3Dv4 conversions. FSX and P3D 1-3 essentially are the same base. While V4 and on, are slightly different. At least on how I understand it in terms of how things are setup in the sim. So it sounds like a tweak from MCX would be the way to fix this. As others have mentioned it's likely attached to another animation that either lost function in moving to v4, it just needs to be reassigned to a proper animation for v4.

Edit: I actually went and downloaded the version on Rikoooo to have a look at it and my throttle does move in this version and it all seems to be functioning properly. I did not however go into and do a full test. I just went to see if the throttle moved. And it does.

So should I forget about the Pro Traning version?
This is confusing because some people fly it in v4 and v5.

No click sounds

I have the Rikoooo one installed in v5 and the thrust lever works fine.

I also tried to add the switch sounds, which seem not to be implemented in the Rikoooo version. Although I added sounds, the p3d dsd dll and .ini, I get no sounds for the switches. Can anyone with working click sounds show me the configuration?

This is an old version

I am talking about the payware Pro Traning Series version, which is a nicer model!

I see, there are two different version. I just wonder, why they ceased sale of the pro training model.

I imagine, the animation could be fixed in MCX. Since I don't have it, I can't investigate it.
