IRIS PC-9...instruments don't function

I assume you mean the two glass displays. If so, directly below them and above the HDG adjust knob, is a double knob labelled BRT which you can turn, which controls the brightness for both displays.

here is the problem...the instruments do not display or are frozen...plane flies great though

That looks to me like you are seeing the bit maps but not the gauges over them. I think it's a bad install. Try installing and re-installing. If that doesn't work, your next stop is Iris's forums.

That's the blank VC bitmap with no gauges.
You need to find FSX_PC9_Gauges.CAB and check it's in the 'panel1' folder within the plane folder...or in the FSX/Gauges folder.
