Irish Scenery

Hello,

Having just spent a week touring Southern Ireland in an Auster AOP.9 with another of the same type and a Chipmunk, I was wondering if there were any Scenery packs/airfields etc for this part of the world.

We had a truly wonderful time exploring the country and the people were so kind and helpful, wherever we went. Fuel of course was a little on the expensive side, but it beat sitting on a beach for a week!

Best wishes,

Martin

Hi Martin,

From what I recall Eire is poorly served for scenery (In FS2004 at least) and the whole island is made up of about 5 different textures, which doesn't help.

There are add-ons for the major airports, so you could try looking in the main download sites.

Hope this helps,

Alastair

might be worth a whirl...... IFSD (Now ceased but thank goodness for wayback!):icon_lol:

The IFSD stuff is on Avsim; if you follow the link in my post ypu will find a few goodies, including the IFSD sceneries & a couple of enhancements to them.

Hello, invisible man here :wavey:. The link which seems to be eluding everybody in my first post is http://www.freewarescenery.com/fs2004.html#iceland, scroll down and you will find a list of freeware sceneries in Avsim & Flightsim, and links directly to them. There is also a link to a rather nice freeware mesh. This will give you close to every airport & airfield in the Republic and an improved look - the only proviso is that the IFSD Dublin scenery will be out of date, as it will not have the new terminal, KileDelta's link below will point you to a better Dublin (albeit payware).

California Classics has a retro scenery for Shannon Airport (EINN) in 1960.

Many thanks to everyone for all their help with my query. There is plenty there to keep me occupied over the next few weeks - least with the sea crossings this time, I'll be a little happier in knowing that my feet are firmly on the ground. The aeroplane doesnt know its across water, but I do! Not much is said when flying over the sea :)

Best wishes,

Martin

great photos buddy! i forgot how pronounced that ribbing is from certain angles on the Chippy... and i'm like that on FS.... anything over water in anything Chippy size and it all goes quiet... fun part is when you get to the other side if you haven't factored in the wind and you're there "Now where am i?", so you start looking for VFR identifications, when you find one, thats it.... onwards! :icon_lol:

Is that EIBR I spy in your second batch of photos, did you make it to the Fly In?

We flew into Kilkenny the day before (straight track with no deviation!) from Haverfordwest and then as they no longer had fuel, decided to fly up to Birr to refuel there, before heading out to the Aran Islands. But we soon had to turn back and then spent a night at Birr.

Everyone was brilliant there (and throughout Ireland!) and had a wonderful time. Didnt know anything about the Fly-In but stayed until Saturday morning before heading off to Kilrush.

Glad you enjoyed your stay...EIBR is one of the most popular fields among the homegrown (and further afield) GA flyers. Another place that's had glowing reports is EINC,should you every plan on returning to these shores. If you plan on visiting EIAB give me a shout...Chippies ans Auster AOP.9's aren't too plentiful over here. :)
