Is it possible to have animals in P3D?

I am flying normally in orbx created scenery which is often awe inspiring in its realism. I wondered if its possible to have things like herds of cattle and birds etc.

It should be. I haven't checked, but there were plenty of animals in FSX, so they should still be there in P3D. Of course you may need to place them yourself, as they were most likely only added where required in FSX in missions etc. Have a look at the P3D or FSX SDK for more info. Should be under "The living World" section in the Environment kit. In fact just looking now it doesn't seem to be present in the P3D V1.4 SDK, which is the only SDK I currently have installed (the FSX:SE SDK is present in the FSX:SE installation also).

If you have the original FSX and/or Acceleration SDK you should find more about animals and how to add them.

Cheers,

Over the years, I've collected whales, a flying elephant, a horse, birds & even a pig that work in FS2004 & FSX. Not too sue about P3D though.

Just had a look in my FSX:SE and P3D folders, and under Simobjects/Animals there are:

Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Humback Whale, Storch, and Orca Whale.

I'm sure I have seen 3rd party add on animals somewhere before also. Maybe search on Flightsim and Avsim.

Cheers,

Try this: Wildlife+. You can find it over at avsim. The filename is wildlife_v2.zip.

Hi Dave, thanks for this. I had not heard of this addon. I tried it though and it changed my well running P3D into a slide show. You really have to dial back the numbers of autogen critters. :)
